Thrywitt Shoes- Whats the width ?

Hello all this is a bit of a replay from the AA post but in case there are others out there who could help, here goes. Im a 9D us shoe. Recently ordered a "9US" the rebranded loake cafskin oxford from the CT UK website.  Ct delivered a shoe with "UK size   8H." (Model number MPSBLX). From my rudimentary understanding the UK H woud be a us G or EE.  They are of course too wide on my feet. I called CT UK customer service and they indicated the H was a mistake and standard shipping width is a UK F.  They indicated I should either return or exchange at the NYC store. I called the CT store here in NYC-in contrast-- they indicated the calfskin oxfords only come in US EE or wider   ......mmmmmmmmm.  The store says my UK H are actually the US double E. This seems odd and contradictory.   Has anyone orderd CT shoes and can you indicate what width they came in. Widths are not specified on the website. I am a US 9D in alden for example.   CT customer service is very pleasant but no one seems to be able to solve this contradiction.   I like the shoes...

I know some companies show sizes online with "H" denoting a half size. Perhaps it's 8.5 UK, therefore 9 US? Do they fit? How do they feel?

I bought one of CT calf shoes. I am 10DUS, and I ordered 9.5F UK and it fits me pretty good. If you are 9D US, Then you should wear 8F UK or 8.5F UK if you use insoles.

Thanks all for the replies. They fit very wide and a touch long. So it is possible that the shoe is an 8.5 which case i will request an 8. There is also the question of what exactly the H designates. No one at Ct seems to konw if this is a half size or a width designation. Or whether ct simply has some wierd nomenclature. Im awaitng a return call from them.. Seems odd as i said either event it should be an 8 UK and an F width...

I am wearing those shoes right now, in a 10 UK. The text printed on the inside of the shoe, second line, should read LAST 026 / F SIZE 8H This denotes a size UK 8.5 shoe with F width The calfskins don't come in G widths. Only the lesser line does. I think the F width is a US D width. That's certainly the way it feels to me. Go to the NY store if you can and just try on a size UK 8. Call ahead though. They don't seem to stock much.

When I've bought a pair of Peals from Brooks -- they were listed as 10H -- which was 10 1/2 -- though this was oddly enough, an American size I think. Because I ended up wearing a 10, which is often too small. So perhaps H denotes half.
