What is the best video game console...I havent played since the first GoW came out on Xbox 360, bought it, beat it, and sold the console...just didnt have time for it. Is Xbox 360 still the best avail or has PS3 taken over???? is there something better on the horizon in the next year or so???

Drake's Fortune and God of War sequels are due this year. So PS3 would be it if youre a fan of those franchises as I am.

I don't own one, but I believe the consensus is that the 360 is the winner this time around, due to its large library of games.

...and it's penchant for breaking. xbox 360 is sitting on my dresser cause i'm sick of sending it off for repair; next time will be the 4th time.

anyway, the kids have a wii but that doesn't cut it for me, so i'm biting the bullet and going PS3.

It seems like something new comes out every 4 years or so.... I liked the 360 for the short time I had it (about a month) it never broke or anything.... but I suppose I may grab a PS3.. I just dont want to buy one and have something better come out next christmas...however I am not up to date in the gaming world, so I dont know the status of these type of things.

The PS3 is supposed to be cutting edge for the next 10 years or so, but the games haven't been really great, unless you're into first person shooters. As an RPG fan, the lack of top shelf titles has been a bit frustrating, however, I keep telling myself that it takes a while to develop a totally kick ass RPG game in full HD. Hopefully that will make the wait worthwhile.

The only games I've played on my PS3 and liked are: Drake's Fortune, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Street Fighter IV, and Resident Evil 5. Plus there's always PS2 games to be played...

Which one has better sports games?

That's all I end up playing. RPGs and shooters take too hard past the first few stages with the former and too much to learn with the latter, IME.

i want to get one in the next couple months.

Whichever has the best rugby game will likely be the deal breaker.

that's all i play, too. either one will do you just fine.

Forgot to say...I prefer PC. I mostly play shooters and the occasional strategy game though.

I live shooters like GoW and Halo, and sports games as well.. I used to be into the Final Fantasy games back in the day but dont even know if they still make those. I will prob. just end up getting another xbox 360 since they are considerably less $$$ and it seems as those the debate over which is better splits no matter where you look online for an opinion.

I have been very interested in this generation of consoles of late. My question is, which one is the easiest to hack and install Linux on so I can use it as a media server?
I've heard of people hacking and installing Linux on their PS3s. Not sure how this affects Blu-Ray playback or PS3 game playback. I think the divide in consoles comes down to preference. I mostly use my PS3 as a Blu-Ray player, and PS3 is also known as the "artsy" platform as lots of indie games get released on the PS Network. However, if you're serious into gaming you must own an Xbox 360; I did before and they get all the great multiplatform games (Call of Duty, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy) plus a bunch of excellent exclusives (Gears of War, Halo, Mass Effect). I've been losing interest in gaming so I sold it off because there's just too many games. Note that 360 and PS3 both get sports games, and the PS3 looks to have the better lineup this year.
