The movie is beautifully baroque such as Allthe world's mornings...
Great music and fantastic costumes..

I would think you are a fan of Lino Ventura. He was generally wonderfully dressed, even as a world-weary cop in Dernier Domicile Connu, where the credits say, "Costumes par Cifonelli." He was built, as we say in English, like a brick shithouse.

As to what I would wear, however anachronistic is almost any outfit from the 1980's TV adaptation of Campion:

Good choices here.

Definitely Jason King, Danger Man, and the Avengers.

Old TV:

The Baron
The Man From UNCLE

Two French films:

Subway
Diva

One more 80s film:

Brazil (you think peak-lapel SB 3-pieces are new?)

One classic:

The Man in the White Suit

Hmm top 3 would be Ganster No. 1, American Psycho and Good Night & Good Luck.

Also Cary Grant in North by Northwest should get a special mention.
