Hi there gentleman. I am about to purchase some Vass shoes and I was wondering about size for the F last. I know this has been covered many times but I have yet to find someone who has a size 12 who can relate to me which size to order. The literal translation to European is 46, but I did read that a 45 is close to an 11.75 US, so I was wondering if I might be fine with 45.5? Any size 12 gentleman out there who can relate.

Also, what colors are appropriate for a navy blue suit? (a bit on the lighter side of navy)

Bordeaux, Antique Cognac, Oxblood Italian polish or dark Cognac Italian polish?

It is possible to view those colors here:

Thanks for your help

I think you want a 45.5, but I'm not responsible for anything that happens if you take my advice.
And I think Bordeaux and oxblood are delish.

Thanks for the advice and of course I only hold myself responsible! To do otherwise would be childish. So oxblood and Bordeaux are alright with navy blue? The other colors, not as much?

Cheers!

I'm a U.S. size 12D and faced this issue back in December

On the Budapester using the Budapester last, I felt comfortable with the 45.5

There was no 45.5 or 46 on the F or U last for me to try but on the U last, Gabor Halmos, in person personally advised I try the 46 on the U last. I'm still waiting for delivery before I can give better feedback

On the F last, he said the 45.5 might be good to but mentioned the 46 might be best

As to the U last, I'm crossing my fingers that a 46 would be solid and I wouldn't have to move up to 46.5

I wear a US 11.5 and I have the Budapester w/Budapester last in size 45.5
The 45.5 fits and feels like at least a 11.75 or maybe a 12 on me.

Thanks for the advice gentlemen. Seems tough to clear up from a distance. I'm quite sure how I should proceed...?

Hey some fellow size 12 people.....it's good to know that I am not alone. I had the same concerns that are shared here but I went ahead and ordered a size 46 in the U last and it fits fine. I am comfortable US 12 in all the Alden and Allen Edmonds models that I have tried. I wear 11.5E in the EG 888 and 82 lasts and 11E in both the 7000/8000 lasted shoes.

I took a bit of a risk in ordering without trying them out but the 46 fit well. It is a tad longer than my EG and Lobbs and this is a function of the narrow U last. I am ordering another pair, this time on the F last going a half size down, based on some of the stuff I've read on these forums.

Hope that helps.....

Paeday...yes that gives me a clear picture and confirms my thoughts, which is for the U last one needs to size .5 up. Or at least thats what I have read. The F last not being as pointed may not require the length.

Do you or anybody else have an insole measurement for Vass 45.5 and or 46?

Thanks

I don't, but I have to tell you, it really doesn't matter. It won't tell you anything important.

I am a US 12 and a UK 11.5 (11 E in Lobb). I wear a 46 in Vass U, and 45.5 in F. Vass advises you to size down by half for the F last.

Thanks so much Manton. That gives me important info. Cheers!
