What's wrong with wearing sandals?

A recent post I'd written received much animosity towards sandals. This is STYLE forum not "Wear what everyone else is wearing" Forum. So long as you abide to certain guidelines of elegance, fit, and coordiation, there is nothing wrong with NOT wearing certain items.

Ok back to sandals, why is wearing a nice pair of sandals(obviously sockless) that, in my mind, would look nice with linen chinos.

An example from Nexus was
http://www.colehaan.com/colehaan/cat...ctGroup=239659

I find the sockless loafer to be uncomfortable and going the sockless loafer route doesn't make the summer heat any better, but thats me.

Excluding sport sandals, what's wrong with wearing an elegant pair of the above link sandals?

Nothing, just make sure they are appropriate for the occasion.

I live in Thailand and wear sandals quite often what could possibly be wrong with them in the correct setting?

the problem i have is not so much the sandals...it's that most men's feet (mine included) are gross and should not be seen in public

A pedicure would not change your feet shape...
Feets are not the most elegant part of the human anatomy ,far from that...
nothing more than repulsive than hairy feets on display...

While this may be true for many people (foot fetish anyone?) sandals like in the above link don't really expose your feet much. If worn properly and in good taste I think it would be a great alternative to the sockless loafer.

Well first, the picture in the OP's thread is more a "loafer with breathing holes" instead of a sandal.

Second, "elegant" and "sandal" should never be used in the same sentence with the exception of, "Sandals are NEVER elegant."

Third, most men are not meticulous in their foot care and even with a pedicure, if they have a "hobbit's foot" condition, the stray hairs on display are NOT attractive.

Do not take it personally but in general sandals are not a great look...

I don't have a problem with sandals per se, but I agree that men's feet are generally not the most attractive part of their body. To me it's like wearing a tank top or shorts out to dinner. There is a place for everything, and the place for sandals is a very casual place, preferably very close to water.

Nothing as long is it's not in a situation where you should be wearing something better.
