Need Spring/Summer suit advice

I am thinking of getting a summer suit made but I don't like seersuckers. Departures had an interesting article about silk suits. http://www.departures.com/fa/fa_0799_silk.html But is a silk suit too extravagant or out of place? I haven't seen anyone wear a silk suit - even in NYC where a guy in a gorilla suit wouldn't get a second look. What about those 7 oz tropical wool suits for comparison? (Note that the suit will be for pleasure and not for work.) I was also considering a SB peaked lapel but I'm not sure if it would look too arrogant for a summer suit. Though Tom Mahon's version looks sweet. http://www.englishcut.com/archives/000061.html

I've got some tropical wool (I think it's 8 oz ) that was made into a suit (via Southwick MTM program). I brought my own material to the merchant. I like it. In my experience, I've been happy with the few suits I've had made in HK -- mostly heavy but they do light weight fabrics very well (naturally). There's some interesting talk, a while back, about lightweight summer suitings (incl. silk) at theondonlounge.net.  It's now a subscription website, but you'll find useful info. there.  There was talk of doing an order of some cool (literally) suitings through the Cloth Club.  I've ordered before and was happy with it.
