Tiredness After Lifting

Thread Starter
I've been lifting for about two months now (3-4 times per week) and continue to experience extreme tiredness after workouts. I don't mean a bit of tiredness, I mean that for the rest of the day, I workout usually when I get up, I am extremely tired which leads to me either taking naps or going to bed very early. I would think after 8 weeks my body would have got used to lifting by now. Any suggestions as to what this might be/how to combat it?

Thanks

I would say it is pretty normal after a grueling session especially if you are lifting heavy weights low reps. I have been training for 3 years now and if i ever take a break for a week or so and hit the weights hard the next week i become extremely tired.

That aside your body will get used to it over time but some proactive measures are 1. eat a heavy carb meal 2-3 hours before your session (depending on how fast your body digests food) 2. take your protein + carb shake immedially after training 3. have a cold shower and rest 4. 1-2 hours later have another heavy carb and protein meal. That should keep you primed for the rest of the day and don't forget to snack/eat throughout (2-3hours) to keep your body running and rebuilding muscle.

On serious days, tiredness is inevitable for me. I go home, eat a nice big meal, and immediately take a nap. Just part of the recovery process for me.

the above suggestions are pretty good. in addition, I think you need to just keep doing it. conditioning and recovery time can take a while to improve some times.

You are either overtraining, not eating enough, or not getting enough sleep.

All the above suggestions, plus maybe you can lift in the evening? That way, you just have to make it through dinner before going to bed.
