Strade Bianche live streaming in the store this morning. Local roads were slushy most of the week, but hope to get out for a ride on Sunday.

Got out Sunday for a couple of hours on a mix of paved and dirt/gravel roads. Just above freezing and fairly stiff wind.

On the topic of pedals:

Pricepoint has Mavic Crossroc SLs for $63 shipped

These are just the Time ATAC XC6, but painted black instead of white or yellow and sold under the Mavic brand (even still has the ATAC logo in the mold)...but they are selling them for way less than the XC6 (or even the XC4 or XC2)

Just put a deposit down on a Dekerf Elysium titanium 650b frameset. Have had a 26" wheel size one from about the time Chris started building them, and had a 29" steel Dekerf Team SST which I sold to a friend last year. The new one won't be delivered until late in the year, but it will be worth the wait, and will probably be the last mountain bike I buy for my personal use.

Hipster!

I think I have sadly shelved both motorcycle and bicycle plans. I recently drove by an accident scene and it was bad. Fifteen cyclists stopped at a very open and easy to see, stop light intersection at approximately noon. Idiot in pickup comes up from behind and runs 10 or so of them over, killing two on the scene and another died later. Just happens with too great of frequency and I think texting while driving is going to increase the carnage.

On the other hand, motorcycle is cheaper to repair/replace than the Benz.

Done a few upgrades and ditched the sram for 11 speed Athena carbon. Would love to swap to a full carbon clincher wheel but not going to happen anytime soon I don't think.

I liked my Athena rig (at least I think it was athena...)

Campy shifting is nice.

My shimagnolo setup worked far better than anyone said it would. Changing wheels required a bit of adjustment, but I raced on it and it was fine!

I haven't been riding much at all and I think I need to condense my bike collection. I'm currently sitting at 4 bikes plus a frameset recovered from a stolen bike (and I know I've got a spare wheelset somewhere so...like 4.5 bikes total) and an annual bike share membership.

I am going to sell the pure road bike, a 90s specialized epic (flexy carbon tube and lug construction) with ultregra bits.
Then I think I have two options:
1. Take the carbon cross bike (Focus Mares CX), put a matching cassette on the spare wheelset with road tires, and use it for both road and offroad riding. Then take the extra frameset (a custom built steel CX frame) and build it up to replace my fixed/SS commuter bike. Would need to get the builder to braze on some rack/fender mounts...and I'd probably need a new fork since the thief chopped it too short for commuting use...but I think the geometry would still be good for that use, and it is a really nice frame that I don't want to waste. Maybe build it with an internal gear hub rather than a derailleur setup (or even get a White ENO hub and keep it single speed). This option cuts me down to 3 bikes total (I also have a grocery getter that lives out on the street).

2. Build the stolen CX frame for road use. Keep the Paul's minimoto brake on the back, but get a normal road fork and normal road brake on the front. It's not some crazy super-high bottom bracket CX geometry, so I think it would handle dedicated road use just fine other than having a goofy rear brake. This still leaves me with 4 bikes, but it prevents me from putting the custom CX frame at risk of being stolen again when relegated to commuter use.
