I wish. One of the Fitness ones.. I was fine all the way through until the last 3x30, and I think my 100% was more like 140%.

I will try again when I get home...maybe I was missing something

Some tire/rim combinations are just a bitch.
I have some Continental GP 4000s that were such a bitch to get on I ordered a set of something else for fear I'd have to change them on the road some day.
I had a hell of a time just getting the first bead on.

I've heard that putting the tire in the dryer for a while can soften it up and help with mounting.

If you're new to Spinervals I recomend Time Trial Special and Uphill Grind. Both are only 45mins long.

I might just have to go to the store on saturday with my wheel and see what I can buy (this place has lots of slightly used and new stuff...operates as a store mostly to support the youth program where kids learn to work on bikes).

It just sucks because I am building this as a gift and I keep getting delayed (and the person I am building it for wanted to do chicago bike to work day tomorrow and currently has no bike... )

guess similar to dryer, but I have had the same problem mounting the specialized armadillo . Left them out in the sun for a long time, it helped

Oh, and if you do put your tires in the dryer, put them inside an old pillow case or something unless you like black marks on the inside of your dryer.

^^^ That Yeti is one of my dream bikes. My next MTB build will either be that or a Transition Covert, then something like a Soma Juice. I saved a Schwinn Sprint from the dumpster on Sunday and I'm in the middle of restoring it. It's by no means high end by either 1986 standards or today's standards, but still useful. All original Suntour components and the frame is rust-free and cleaned up nicely, so maybe it's worth something. I'll edit with pictures once it's rebuilt.

I actually saw a Klein today. Haven't seen one in years. Didn't Trek shut down that line years ago?

Did we just talk about this or am I having some sort of false-deja vue?

Thanks master-x, I just went on a few rides over the weekend, and its filthy compared to that pic when it was brand new. Still pretty out of biking shape since I'm just starting to ride this year (damn rain) but having a great time so far.

Yep, in 2005.

Sad. Kleins were slick-looking bikes. And, I always thought, high quality--though I'm no expert.

I was never a fan of Kleins. I didn't like the look and they were pretty expensive.

I bought a Trek 7.3 FX today.. Hybrid / fitness bike. Haven't ridden a bike since my Huffy in high school. I've only taken it for a 5.8 mile ride tonight, but I had fun.
