it is STUPID HOT outside....

hence the one pic. I'll take more when it gets better - the air is so dense it feels like it's choking you when you open the door AND my air conditioning unit just broke on the 1st floor.... my upstairs is doing double duty.

Anyway.... racecar meet racebike (yes I gotta clean my garage )


Initial thoughts: I got home fairly late from picking it up in Richmond but I did ride it for about an hour or two last night - this thing is SUPER FAST! The acceleration is just crazy. Very slight toe-overlap - could be avoided if I put my foot just abit back more. The handling is crazy! The input is minimal as well - like riding a shifter kart. I don't mind one bit the stiffness of it - in fact it's very reminiscent of riding a kart or a race car - I feel very connected to the road. We'll see how she does on longer rides though. One concern is that seat....my cheeks were abit numb after riding, maybe I just need to get used to it. And don't mind the dopey looking cages, I'm waiting for my clipless to come in.

I just ordered the matte black with white/red Explosion. Several guys from my shop talked very highly of it.

Do your feet a favour, get some Sidis.

The Aeon was great, but I've had 2 of them so far and wanted to try something new. They're very light and fit a bit wider so I could go with a medium, but I didn't really like how it sat higher up on the forehead. As for the shoes, my feet are too wide for the regular sidi ergo 3's and I already have a pair of the r315's heatmolded and they fit perfectly. My current pair is worn out and I just need to replace them.

Yeah me too, I have ducks feet. Sidi Mega are the best fit I've tried, and all round most comfortable shoe as well. I've been through several different pairs of Shimano, and Northwave, Louis Garneau, Specialized, nothing was wide enough. Kinda like condoms I also have comparatively narrow heels so the Sidi adjustable heel is awesome. I've heard Lake make a really nice wide shoe as well, but they are hard to get hold of in Japan.

Great helmet, very light indeed and you can't even feel that you're wearing it really.

I'm a bit confused by this build...looks fantastic but then you notice the saddle bag and pedals which let it down a bit!

saddle bag because I'll be riding it on the streets until my local velodrome opens up - as you've probably also noticed, I've also got some Continental Gatorskins on there as well - had to swap out my Diamante Pro's as they would not last as long and more likely to get punctured.

The pedals are just there so I can ride around while I wait for my shoes. In the previous page, i posted a pic of my clipless pedals that are going on it.


btw - you have an Aeon too? how's the cooling? it gets stupid hot here

Was 38 degrees the other day and my head was fine! Specialized might be an option too for cooling.

Some nefarious bastard stuck a bunch of spacers under your stem!
