Ah, good. I just read the last few posts and I'm relieved. I'm a 34 and I bought a few pairs of the PRPS Baraccuda raw ($69!!!) in size 34 from the Gilt sale a few hours ago. Glad to know they're going to fit me well. I'm gonna be stocked up on denim for a while.

I normally wear a size 34, but always get relaxed fits. I spent about half an hour going back and forth between a 34 and a 36. I have large thighs and like to have room around the legs. I know the waist still stretch out even more, but I was more concerned with the fit around the thighs and butt.

Did I make the right choice in sizing up and this particular style and fit?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can provide some insight.

...PRPS Baracuda run slim in the glutes and thighs. Now with that said I have an athletic frame..6'2 220lbs. I wear a 36 in PRPS Impala fit which is the loose/baggy/ relaxed fit jean. The Baracuda run considerably slimmer in the butt and thighs and I bought a 38 and was happy with the fit. Albeit they were a washed version...a raw version will probably stretch more and over time fit to your liking.

I'm not sure that "slim" is the right word for it. I actually think that "straight" most accurately describes the barracuda, which is how the cut is described outside of the US. Point is that it is sized generously enough that you WILL get a relaxed fit if you size up, which is why you should size true or down... that being said I don't own the "heirloom" versions and I can't comment if those are sized exactly like the barracudas with the purple selvedge.

My pairs from the Gilt sale arrived today. The size 34 I bought are actually like 36 or 38... I'll measure them later if anyone is curious. I called Gilt about sizing before placing my order and was told they were TTS.

I'm feeling pretty disappointed at the moment, although it's not directed at Gilt. I officially hate vanity sizing now. I'll wash and dry one pair and see if it helps enough to keep. I can sell them on eBay if not.

don't bother, even if it does shrink minimally, it'll stretch out TONS.

Yeah, I got a pair to shrink, but not enough. And I tried boiling water after that. And as you say they'll stretch even more... bah.

Thanks for your advice. I didn't ignore it... I was pretty much on the way to the washing machine when I posted that.

I thought about buying these, but didn't. Still "curious" about measurements though.

The 'cudda is straight not relaxed. The Impala cut is relaxed, but is no longer offered by PRPS.

Measured them for you:

My tagged 34 (Barracuda, raw, Heirloom) is 18" across. That's after a wash + dryer, then a boiling water soak +dryer. They ain't gonna shrink any more than that. They're very long, which really isn't a problem.

They are awesome jeans, in my opinion. I'm just heartbroken that they don't fit.

Thanks! And how's the fit aside from the too-big waist?
