The arms look just fine on the slim fit, there is a noticeable difference between the regular and slim, but not so much between slim and vintage. I'm a 39' for the chest so would a 38 be perfect for me?

wait, there is a vintage fit? The slim fit the arms are too long on me, is the vintage fit shorter arms?

i dont know if the arms are shorter, but they are supposed to be even slimmer, the jacket is supposed to be shorter though.

that would work for me. The slimfit could be a tad shorter as is. I know the original fit has shorter sleeves, I was thinking of trying one of those out.

Does BiG still carry these?

The last one I got from Oi Polloi but Id rather just get one here...I think the price was the same because BiG tax was the same as shipping and no duty. I think the Oi Polloi was cheaper actually...but that was a few years ago

i actually have the beige vintage fit, and yes it runs slimmer (or a more 'truer' fit) and is cropped(which is good for me bc i'm short). Awesome jacket, the shoulders are a bit deceiving bc its hard to get a definitive measurement, but thats my only gripe. I'd show pics or give measurements (38) but its at the cleaners

Hey, zippyh

Do you mind posting a few pics of the Baracuta Jacket from Jcrew?

This would be my only gripe with the JtG Harrington. The length is a tad short on me - only really an issue when wearing low-waisted chinos or jeans though.

I am 5'5, 150 lbs, muscular build, 38 chest
Will I be swimming in the 38 original fit?

I wouldn't think so, no.

I just got my Navy G4 Slim Fit in the mail from Oi Polloi today. I had never tried on a Baracuta, so I was a little concerned about what size to order, but after reading through this thread and others I crossed my fingers and went with the 40. I'm glad I did.

For reference I'm about 6'1" with a 41" chest, and normally wear either a 40 or 42 jacket depending on the cut. The chest, sleeves, length, and waist of the 40 are about perfect for me. I'm pretty sure the 38 would have been a bit too tight, especially around my waist and hips, and the 42 would probably have been too loose all around. The left-handed zipper is going to take some getting used to, but I already think I want to order another in tan.

^ It would appear that I have a (slightly taller) doppelganger across the pond.

I just got my G4, in dark navy, 40" chest on Tuesday. Fits beautifully, not blousy at all. I decided against the G9 because I'm not overly keen on elasticated waistbands; I have an ass and a slim waist so they tend to bunch up at the back. The G4 hangs nicely, keeping a slim (but not tight) silhouette, to a couple of inches below belt level.

The zip on mine is what I call normal for a male - the zipper itself (the bit you move to open/close the jacket) is in your left hand. Is this the same as yours, or has one of us been used to wearing goofy jackets?

In the US it has been my experience that the zipper tab on men's garmets is operated by the right hand. This is similar to a men's shirt, where you use your right hand to push the buttons through their respective buttonholes on the left.

Here's a fairly stupid question:

I clock in at a mere 5'3", 125lbs, so I am a bit worried about body and sleeve lengths on the Harringtons. I was thinking maybe Jump the Gun, as they seem to be quite slim fitting and are one of the few (relatively inexpensive) brands that carry an XS, along with Warrior. Does anyone have any experience with body and sleeve lengths with either brand? I am hesitant to pull the trigger and ship a JTG Harrington overseas if it simply will not fit me.

What are the differences between the G4 & G9 jackets?
^ I believe they are practically the same except the G9 has elastic bands on the waist and sleeves whereas the G4 does not.
