Sunburned Hand Of Man is really cool. No Neck Blues Band too. My favorite thing for that sort of sonic territory is Wolf Eyes though.

I like Wolf Eyes but they're a lot harder than Sunburned Hand. Definitely more inline with the rest of the contents of this thread.

Yeah you're probably right. Maybe something like Black Dice. DFA did some really cool dance re-mixes of Black dice stuff like 2 years ago.

I like noisy stuff. Like SPK, Einstursende Neubauten, any Rozz Williams spoken word or noise, etc etc.

For extreme metal, I always had a liking for black metal stuff, like Emperor.

To answer Magician:

I just never really "felt" high on fire. They're a good band, but the riffing style and overall songwriting never really stood out to me. I also feel that high on fire aren't able to really transfer the energy from their albums to a live situation as well as a band like converge can.

The last couple songs mastodon played (circle of..., aqua dementia, where strides..., mother puncher) made their set worth it. I like Crack the Skye alright, but I was really disappointed they insisted on playing the full album. I guess I have to defend mastodon as they became one of my favorite bands when they toured around the Remission-era.

Yeah I dig Mastodon.

Tonight Melt-Banana is playing the Rock-N-Roll hotel DC. I'm hoping I'm fucntional enough to make it out as I'm still pretty drained from my own show last night.

There's the link to Scion on last.fm. Usually that gets updated pretty quick if there is any news on it. There's also a neat link there with some information about the guy who put the thing together.

Melt-Banana is some weird shit. When my brother was the bassist for Psyopus he did a small tour with them, said they were pretty wacky Japanese people.

Only as a joke. I used to do a lot of drinking with Peter Sotos, and even he admits how bad they suck. Kevin Drumm wipes the floor with them.

The most out there shit is Runzelstirn and Gurgelstock. There is a somewhat rare recording that sounds like someone murdering a kindergarten class with an axe that goes on for twenty minutes at least. Even hardcore noise people don't make it to the end of that.

The best pure noise show I saw was Francisco Lopez at the Sonar church about a decade ago. He used the resonant frequencies of the space to build up the most intense wall of sound I have ever heard. Merbow played after and was just weak in comparison. The irony is Lopez is known for making some of the quietest music ever recorded.

Another great show was Richard James putting the tone arm of a 1200 in a blender and scratching using sandpaper.

^ The Kevin Drumm and Prurient split is fucking sick.

Honestly one of the nosier shows I've been to was the Dinosaur Jr. reunion tour. At one point they put the guitars against the amp for full screeching feedback and just walked off the stage, leaving this wall of noise for like ten minutes,

When I saw Asobi Seksu they did the same thing. It was awesome, even though some people left like 5 minutes into the feedback, hah.

Boris does a lot of that too, they know how to put on a fucking show.
