Extreme Music (Black Metal, Noise, Grind etc)

A thread for fans of extreme music (the genuine stuff). Right now the new Wolves in the Throne Room is fucking great, they have gone from one of my favorite black metal bands to one of my favorite bands straight up. Nachtmystium is my other big American black metal outfit right now. Blake Judd, the singer, also runs Battle Kommand records which put out Zoroaster, a great sludge band from Atlanta. I saw them open for Weedeater in Baltimore last year, one of the slowest and most punishing shows I'd ever been too. Perfection.

I played with Weedeater with Regurgistate at the Foundation in Raleigh. I wish I had been old enough to play with Buzzove*en when they were still touring but I guess Weedeater is the next best thing. It was their first tour and they played at my friends squat because the Caboose had had too much trouble with Buzzov*en in the past. Small world.

I used to be into 'extreme' electronic music (Noise, Industrial, Power Electronics, ...) a lot. Stuff like Haus Arafna, Genocide Organ, Merzbow or Grey Wolves all the day. Kinda lost track of it in the last years.

Yeah, haha you really have to work to keep up with Noise, especially stuff like Merzbow. Have you tried Oren Armbachi? Hossoso that's awesome, I know they were touring with Sourvein, which i think is ex-Buzzove*en? This morning I was going for earlier black metal, blasting Celtic Frost on the way to work. Even their most recent album is pretty great.

non's "easy listening for the hard of hearing" may be best album title of all time.

We might as well take this to posting songs.
Dystopia "Anger Brought By Disease". One of the best shows ever. I lost a bullet belt at this show.

Hey...

Currently listening to the Melvins "Senile Animal", various Floor 7"s, and Damaged "Do Not Spit".

Man, there just aren't bands that come through St. Louis...I would have loved to see Buzzov*en back in the day.

Yeah, hardcore with a twang was and still is my favorite... Damad, Eyehategod (when they mattered), Buzzov*en and Cavity were all amazing in the late '90's early 00's when I used to tour with or watch them. His Hero Is Gone, Catharsis and Zegota were awesome too. HHIG moved out to Portland a while after I moved back to Seattle and started Tragedy. Good band but no southern flavor. Floor is great though, I think they were one of the first to use a de-tuned bass as percussion right? I was just trying to remember their name the other day. We used to watch them with Assuck.

Would Boris qualify?

My friend is a friend of Throbbing Gristle's Genesis P-Orridge. I'm rather fond of the Psychic TV remix of Glen Meadmore's "Do Me". I like Laibach if not just for their uniforms:

Unfortunately, I missed them the one time they appeared in Detroit with Jesu. I'm not sure about the bass part but I now they frequently used the "bomb string".

Sylvano Bussotti's Rara Requiem moves me to tears.

Wolves in Throne Room are touring with Krallice, really fucking excited but the only Baltimore stop is part of MD death fest. I think I'm gonna go up to Philly to catch the show on the 28th.
