WTB: Set of *COLLAR-STAYS*

Hi All,

I've been looking for a good set of collar-stays that will last me for the next couple years. A simple set with various lengths/widths would be perfect!

Any suggestions of where to check? Any tips on what to look for when checking these out would be great as well!!

Thanks!

Filene's Basement, Century 21, Saks Off 5th all had bronze/chrome/plastic sets for between $10 and $5 (this is as of last week in the NYC area)

IF you're just looking for plastic ones, Jos A Bank sells a small plastic case full of various sizes for about $10.

Thanks for the replies, everyone!
I'm looking for a set of non-plastic ones...so any type of metal would be great!
The deals from Century 21 and Off Saks sound great!!! Too bad I'm in Canada! How many different sizes/sets come with those?

I have actually checked out the BB website, but couldn't find anything under Mens Accessories. However, Canada is FINALLY getting BB stores! The first will open here in Vancouver within the next 2 months! Thank goodness.

How much how you guys paid for a decent set of collar stays? These last pretty much forever, so I don't mind paying a bit more if it's worth it!

go to an express store...they have metal collar stays hanging from the buttons of all of their shirts (flimsy plastic ones in the shirt).

start stealing!

alternatively, you could ask. When I did this 6 months ago the salesman reached into a drawer and handed me like 5 sets.

I paid $10 at my BB store. They give you plenty of lenghts.

I also like the collar stays from Express, it's like the only good thing they have there.

Go to Men's Furnishings at Nordstrom and ask for plastic collar stays. They'll give you them for free.

Lol, very nice. We also don't have Nordstroms in Canada. I will try my local department store if all else fails!

What is Express?

It's a piece of shit, extremely overpriced mall chain that sells modern dress clothes. Think of it as a incredibly bad version of H&M or Zara.

I think that the metal ones cause more wear of the collar tips
I find them to be too stiff, too heavy, and sometimes uncomfortable
I'm looking into MOP or horn

DrDucky, thanks for the feedback on the metal ones. I am looking for something that will definitely hold the collar, but not necessary something that pulls down/stretches my shirts. Are metals ones really that heavy?

LOL to Express, ryoneo! :P

not sure about the wear & tear aspect the stiffness and weight I suppose are personal preference.. I initially like the supreme stiffness, but now prefer a little give so I don't feel my chin if I look down and to one side.. the plastic ones have a little give and sometimes even a little roll, so just go with what comes with the shirts while it may because I get them through discount channels, the Kiton, Isaia, Borrelli, Truzzi and Fray shirts I have all came with plastic stays (even at retail of $6-800).. the only MOP I have heard about were with the now defunct Carlo Franco the metal ones should be cheap enough to give them a go to see what you think
