My Father's suit from Gilbert Feruch, Paris

this is the first of several suits belonging to my late father that I will alter for myself.
this suit is a dupioni silk. made by gilbert Feruch. a tailor/sculpter who is no longer in business. I remember going to his altier. He made my father several very sporty/ casual outfits. this was the 70's.
this suit was completely made by hand.
it will fit better if I drop 10-15 pounds.
the main problem is that they have working buttonholes and my arms are longer then my father's
the shoulders are great. what Tom Ford should aspire to.

Hi, I don't think the arms look that short at all. I wish I wasn't such a tiny man compared to my father, him at a 46, while I wear a 38S. Luckily, his shoes did pass on.

Is this a picture taken in your closet? If so I can see why you're known as 'the shirt maven' !

sleeves look pretty much perfect, as does the suit. Is your left arm longer then your right? seems like your showing the perfect amount of sleeve cuff on your left but your right is a tad longer, maybe just your shirt cought up?

Love the lapel buttonhole...very Continental, done with fine silk thread to make an even sheen. There's an Italian term for that which I can't recall.

Shirtmaven, I am curious about the styling of the suit - flaps on those pockets tucked, and cuffs on the trousers? If not, "vury fruh-anche" indeed!

They look more like bolts of shirting fabric to me!

Thank you for the wonderful photos; IMO the jacket looks fine on you the way it is now, though a few tweaks here and there might help.

we did not take a picture of how much space there was between the end of the sleeve and the working buttonholes. I did not shoot the cuffs of my shirt.

I guess you could call the backround folded up shirtporn.

the armholes are very high. even when i was 15 pounds lighter, the chest felt very trim. of course most of my suits are from Ned and they are cut more comfortably. If I lose the weight everything will fiot better.
the pants have a very low rise. My shirt kept pulling out during the day.
I will also have to take a photo of the self belt. i don't even know of anyone left in NYC who makes quality self belts.

My father was not buried in His best suit. It was quite nice. we picked a non french cuff shirt. we did pick a beautiful Lanvin tie.
