Regarding the 'softness', both the new 100x & 220x denim is mind blowing. The softness comes from a slight brushed cotton feel which is amazing, but is still rigid and tough.

I don't shout about much, but these jeans are worth campaigning about!

Why does the ST-220x appear to have such a larger leg opening compared to the other ST models (going by self edge's measurements)?

I was wondering the same thing. Looking to buy a pair but kind of worried about that.  Also the measurements of all the the slim tapered show the leg opening measuring less than the knee but some of the fit pics make the leg opening look slightly larger, like its flared.

 

Btw there's a pair of new st-300s on ebay for a 100 if anyone is interested.

I was looking at the Shadow denim as well as the picture posted of initial wear and was curious how there is any white poking through if the fabric is all black and blue (vs. most jeans where there's white). Maybe I just don't understand all the nuances of denim...

Also, I once had a pair of 3sixteen and my one complaint was that the pockets weren't deep enough, any chance that's changed this season?

If I am just looking for a nice pair of denim, should I be choosing one pair over the other? Looking at the 120x vs 100x (Shadow vs. Non?)

Been looking for a nice pair of denim to put some good years of wear into.

Had my rounds with Nudie, APC, N&F... time to "step up" in the denim realm and I find 3sixteen to be a nice "indie"/alternative brand. Like the subtly and "soft denim" being echoed around here.

Out of the 3, I actually preferred the Nudie denim the most in the slim jim cut.

There is no white.  Regular jeans are woven with a natural (white) weft.  You can see more texture with the white weft, and obviously you have a white cuff when you roll your jeans.  These jeans have a black weft, (though no core dyed), so everything that was white in the statement above, is now black.  Only place you'll find white is where its faded to white.

Thanks, this makes sense. I'm still curious how they can be "faded to white" if there are no white threads. Does the fact that they're not core dyed imply that under the blue or black in each thread is white and as the dye wears off you'll get white regardless of the warp being indigo and the weft black?

yes, exactly. the core is still white even though you don't see it yet.

anyone have fit pics of ST100x in 28?  I also find that SE's measurements make them seem almost like a bootcut. I've taken a pair of my jeans and laid them flat and folded the legs to SE's measurements and it does appear to flare at the bottom. I'm sure it's different for an actual pair that's sewn together. 

 

Also does anyone know how 3sixteen's site measures their pants? For a size 28 st it's a little more than 1/2 inch bigger i the thighs then SEs.

Have to go over ot Self Edge some time this week or next to have some jeans shortened anyways, will definitely have to give these a try since I want something dark that a) is a bit different than what I have and b) looks better with black shoes/jackets than my current selection of dark jeans.

Love the denim. Worn 30 times. I'm outgrowing them too rapidly to be able to wear them another 6 months. I'd love to move these for $130 to my paypal.

Just got a pair of ST-100X from Blue Owl. They seem very tight in the waist and thigh. I normally wear Levi's 31, which requires a belt. I got a 29 and had severe trouble getting them buttoned. As it is I'm half afraid to put my boots on in case they explode. Just wondering how normal this is or if I should go up a size? I don't want to end up with a pair too big for me either.

You should almost certainly size up. I had the same problem, sized down to a 34 but had to exchange them for a 36. My SL-100x stretched maybe .25" in the thighs over the course of a month, and they're still pretty tight. 3sixteens don't stretch much.
