Even a few years ago you could get hangers that were better proportioned. It seems that hangers have become victim to the 'bigger is better' mentality.

Most of them are molded plastic with that fake velvet-like material to boot.

Baron Le Chat Mort's hangers are actually very, very nice. For shirts I picked up this weekend 2 dozen wood hangers from Ikea -- 8 for Euros 2.20 a set. The shirts hang very well from them, the shoulders are slim and well contoured for shirts. So I need a few dozen more...

What better endorsement than someone with 1 post bumping a 3-year-old thread to plug their website....

I wouldn't use them - there is lead and mercury in the lacquer the Chinese children use to polish this brand of hangers.

I get mine from Walmart...They are $ 4 each, similar in design to the hanger projects ones but 2" thick. Obviously not as good of quality, but they do the job. Bed, bath and Beyond also sells pretty much the same ones, but a little better quality for $ 8 each. Here is a link to the bed bath and beyond ones

I love the Hanger Project. They are a little expensive but they do come in different sizes. They are beautifully made and there's a discount for SF users.
