From Strong Eye Leather, check out his website for prices, it's a customized John Locke briefcase.

Seems pretty reasonable for a leather weekender type (full grain etc). Any other suggestions?

I was shopping around and came across this: http://www.mattandnat.com/product/phoenix-48-black-3030/

Problem is it's my first messenger/briefcase and I'm having trouble visualizing the size. Is 20.5''X 15''X 5'' too big for an everyday bag? It'll be used for a 15" laptop OR a tablet and some binders. I'm worried that it'll look really empty/collapsed on days I'm not carrying a lot of stuff. They sell a smaller version but at $180 it's rather overpriced.

My daily bag is around 19" x 12" x 7" as I bring a lot of stuff to work (files, packed lunch, water bottle, fruits, snacks, iPad, etc. Okay, I am a pig.), but that's usually too big for most people.

Thanks for the reply. I suppose I should pass on it, especially since it is a final sale. Not a bad deal for someone looking for a bag that size in a lower price range.

I'll probably end up going with a bag from Danier here in Canada. Not the greatest (quality wise), but the best I can find for a students price range (embarassingly $150 or less). I like the following 3 so feel free to comment.

Love Isaac Reina

I have been to the isaac reina store in Paris, its pretty much just a workroom with a whole bunch of bags and wallets in the front window

Im probably going to grab some eventually

Quality is good

That's what I suspect I think he's doing the best designs right now and allegedly quality is very good. Just curious if professor has handled and what his opinion is.

I want the condoms envelope.

Doctor bag is great but I have too many margiela bags to be honest though no weekender types. Might commission a luk-cha wallet we'll see.

Unfortunately I've never handled a Reina in person, so can't speak to the quality. Others who have, please post reviews!

Sadly, work and a shift in my personal tastes/access to custom have caused me to be out of the ready-made bag game for several seasons. Luckily, several excellent posters here have stepped up to fill my place and are introducing the forum to a lot of new brands.

If you have time and patience, I would try out eBay for some good deals actually. They look okay for the price range, but leather goods (to me at least) are an investment and if you are willing to spend a wee bit more, I think you could get much options, especially around sale time. But yeah, check out the bay.

I agree. Reina is doing some of the best minimalist designs out there, IMHO. He's been on my radar for years.

They sometimes have off season items on discount - check with them directly (contact info on site, I think her name is Margaret...the name defo begins with "M")...

Looking at the Blake or Tommy work bag for a waxed cotton bag for work. How is the quality? Worth the price tag?

No personal experience with Property Of... but it's interesting to note they are getting some "design inspiration" from Jack Spade.

Bodega in Boston has two of their bigger bags at 50% off at the moment.
