I've waited a while for this (it went from the US to the UK twice before it arrived at my door) but I was lucky enough to find a used Glaser Flaptop. I can reiterate and build upon everything that has been said about Myron Glaser's products before - the quality is seriously good (and I've had bags from Swaine, Adeney & Brigg, Hermes, Papworth, Mulberry, Mulholland, Tusting, Billingham, Chapman etc) and the design is very well thought out; lots of little touches that make sense when you use them.
It already has some patina from the previous owner; I've given it a coat of Nivea and I'm looking forward to adding some patina of my own.

I have two Want les essentiel bags and have given two as presents.  I am very happy with the clean designs and the materials seem to be very good quality.  Does anyone else have any bags and what do you think?  I have the cognac ohare tote and thinking of getting it in green also. 

The prices are going up but I think they are still worth it.

I had a Da Vinci 72hr bag. It's tricky getting the combination of fairly sleek styling and good quality at any price point - my sense was that it represented reasonable value for money (the leather was particularly nice, the stitching / finishing adequate) at the retail price when I purchased it ~4 years ago. At now $1800 it's strong money, at the $1000 they seem to be discounted to it's acceptable.

Agreed. I think their earlier productions were of slightly better value. I am not into how they put a canvas shoulder strap on a leather bag (seems to be popular these days - ways to cut cost; some people say it's because canvas is stronger - I disagree, especially after learning leatherwork...anyway, I digress and shall get off my soapbox). I dislike it even more that the canvas used on their canvas bag body is different from the canvas used for the shoulder strap...

Gosh I miss this thread....

No.

Want LE is very expensive for what it is; $800 for a VERY simple leather tote is not my idea of value, especially when it doesn't have a "designer" label to prop up resale.

I have never heard of Ernest Alexander.

J. Crew factory is fine, quality-wise; not as nicely finished as retail items, but not junk. Materials are cheap and styling is usually boring, though.

I'm guessing there's not a lot of people that would dig this style but it's an old russian army bag with lots of personal touches and modifications. I don't care for off the shelf stuff so I can't leave it well enough alone but it will easily outlast my grandkids generations and has more room than my garage.

You're saying it's too "simple" for the price? That is, simple designs should cost less, complicated designs should cost more?

WANT's lack of a designer label is what makes customers come their way in the first place.
