The Definitive MANBAG Thread: Post Feedback/Brands Here. - Page 116

A quick mention of a Brit bespoke maker, MAtt Fothergill. He trained in saddlery; many of his bags are available from the Conran shop, but you can commission one-offs directly from him, and they're terrific value.

This is, of course, a travel bag. PRessie from the GF. I supplied the Irish Tweed for the lining.

This bag arrived this morning. I commissioned it because I had some Cone indigo duck, wanted something smaller and squashier, either as a carry-on for the plane (the croc won't fit under the new regs, and it's not going in the hold) or a big work bag, with customised pocket for Macbook, and small items.

Lovely detailing:

For those who are interested in briefcases made by Lotuff and Clegg, here are some nice photos showing the construction details and the insides of their 'English briefcase' I found on google. These are chocolate brown and chestnut colors. This bag has 2 big main compartments, one smaller front compartment and a back pocket that runs the length of the bag. There is also a zipper pocket with some small accessory organization pockets inside. (Click for mega sized images) Here are some videos from the makers: http://vimeo.com/user3384027/videos

I have been a big fan of Brady bags since the mid 80's and have several. I have even been in touch with the owner over the years. To me, they make the very best bag of it's kind. I have never seen this bag that you posted. The grain leather is beautiful. I see they show it on their website.....

I am glad some of you have found Qwstion a good brand to check out for your needs (I am not associated with them!). Wejetset and The Reed Space stock them in the US. I think their prices work out to be comparable to ordering from Qwstion directly. Sorry I haven't been on here much so this is a bit late but if you want to get some Jack Spade gear they have extra 25% off all their sale items. It expires tonight. Thanks for posting the Lotuff and Clegg pics. I love the look of their bags but I just can't afford them! EDIT: And thanks for the link to Matt Fothergill. They offer some good-looking bags! The pic links you posted are not working on my end though...not sure if it's just me...

Any opinions on the filson rucksacks? Im heading into first year univ, and I was wondering if the bag would bw appropriate for textbooks, water bottle, etc. Would it be too big? Not suitable for my age (18)? I dont want to come off as a person who's too intense about fashion, but I hear filson makes incredible bags that last a lifetime. Any help is appreciates,.thanks!

Very excited about these.

Just saw the video, pretty cool concept of incorporating bamboo into a bag. Will definitely be interested in the retail product.

Recommend those that have yet to see it to check out the short video, pretty neat stuff.

Most of the pics aren't showing for me, but a trip to his website made me drool

don't know if this has been discussed before but are there laptop bags that are TSA friendly (meaning the laptop compartment folds out flat so you don't have to remove your comp in airport security) AND somewhat decent looking? I've been looking at the Tumi t-pass stuff but it's pretty generic.

Is that "TSA-friendly" stuff really what it's cracked up to be? I have a Timbuktu bag that features that, but most of the time the TSA (or European airport) personnel just ask me to remove the computer completely and place it in the container anyway. I just haven't found the feature that special. On another issue, can anyone speak to the quality of Knomo bags? They look interesting to me, but I see very few mentions on SF. I am interested in opinions re: the leather quality and construction especially, from actual users if possible. The L & F bags sri posted look good too, esp. the zip-top model.

.

In the states pretty much every airport I've been through (I fly almost every week) accepts the "checkpoint friendly" bags. It's one minor hassle removed from the laundry list of shit you have to do at airport security. I have noticed that international airports still make you take your laptop out though.
