I can't comment on the quality but for those who can't afford the Danish leather school bags (like me), they might be ok alternatives.

Just picked up a badass Tanner landscape satchel that's developed a nice patina. I'll upload pics when it arrives.

and I've had a Floto bag before......if you get them on sale, it's not a bad bag. They are NOWHERE near luxury quality bags though. Someone that has a keen eye can see and feel the lining, the strap, the stitching and just overall quality is about a 5 on a 1-10 scale IMO. I've had Coach bags (the ones made in China) that to me felt better constructed and better leather. and Coach isn't a 'luxury' brand bag either. Just my 2c.

One more thing about Floto: if you're set on buying one, sign up for their email list; they send out 25% off codes pretty regularly.

I probably WOULD get it, but they were showing expected delivery AFTER I already will have left for Japan. So, I don't want that bag just sitting in my building lobby until the end of August. So tempting, though. Other than the color (which I wish were gray) , that style is probably about my favorite type of bag. Large format, simple design, front pockets, rolled handles. Reminds me both of the Balenciaga "Classic Square" bag from this men's season, and also the tote from the Valentino S/S 09 season. Valentino:

A black Balenciaga messenger has been on my wish list forever, but they're hard to find new and still expensive used

+1. The similarity of our tastes/opinions in manbags is uncanny.

yeah i got a look at that site a little while ago. Can't decide between the music bag in navy or the batchel in red.

Desi!!! I wish the batchel had hidden snap closures though. Buckle closures just seem so inconvenient for a bag like that. I have inquired about that and will let you know when they get back to me (they are on holiday at the moment). I like the look and functionality of the music bag. I always find single handle on one side a bit odd, but I think that's just me.

By the way, overnight delivery charge of 16 quid from the UK to the US is very reasonable.

Another very nice unisex bag from Celine, this from the Prefall collection. I'm really liking what Phoebe Philo is doing there and look forward to seeing them in person.

I just got my Tanner bag, but I'm still digging my Filson I used to have more. Click on the link in my signature to view pictures. It's pretty sexy.

I actually use this as my daily bag when heading to the office. Definitely on the bulky side but there's not many bags that can stand the abuse of two laptops and some extra gear and still live to tell the tale. Since I'm a tall guy it doesn't look clunky when carried in the handle rather than the strap but there will indeed be some marks from slamming it into closing doors etc...
