+1. "Hmmmm... should I pay off my house... or buy a bag?" Most of the time, these bags are produced for marketing/publicity purposes, or are given to a few celebrities as "gifts" to be shown off as such. Very rarely does anybody actually BUY these things, and even then... I'd say they probably make only a couple. I've really never heard of anybody actually buying one at full retail, just walking into the store to get one. (NOTE: this doesn't carry over for Hermes, strangely). That being said, in most of the major flagship boutiques, they'll have one or two. I regularly see them in the main Tokyo stores, and probably in NYC they have them, too... from the major players (from Valentino to Gucci to Prada.) Just sitting there on the shelf is the bag, with the $34,000 price tag just hanging there.

+1. There is a thin line by which Croc looks unbelievably gorgeous, or "WTF?" over-the-top.

Hermes Birkin= Good.
Valentino Patchwork multicolor croc with rhinestone "V" logo= Bad.

That Gucci is borderline "over the top."

I tend to like "classic" forms/styles in croc, like a simple tote, briefcase, etc.

Quite noiice...

Love the look of those bags. I have no reference point for the quality, but if it's up there I wouldn't think $700 to $850 would be an unfair price.

Me and Desi are always on the same page I have personally handled Want Les bags - very good construction and materials. I'd say go for it. Where are you getting the good deal?

Aren't they almost always borderline or completely over the top?

Sorry mate, a little late I just bought this black Want Les essentials De Gaulle Bag from ebay UK. I'm glad I was the only bidder.
De Gaulle

I received recently from the same seller a Want Trudeau bag in tan for a 17" laptop, but I find the colour a bit too much for formal occasions and it's too big. I'll see which one I'll keep.

i think the handle is a little short. looks more like a purse than a murse

^^Nah, way to much like a purse. It looks nice tho.
I'm not sure how big you want it but this assembly one is pretty nice. Definitely something I don't need but I sure do want it.

The black one would be too small for me and that orange one is huge. I like how they look, but would need to find the happy middle.

Just picked this up:

http://www.selfridges.com/en/Menswea...3000517-TOKEM/

Knomo special edition at Selfridges in the UK only. Better than Jack Spade for less money, and a good bag if you understand that less bag means you carry less crap (no space for a water bottle, for instance)

I like the look of both, although the vertical one's handle drop might be too long for me, but that's a personal preference of course (I am not very tall!!!). Is the color in the pictures of the tan briefcase representative of the real color? If you decide to sell, let me know

BTW, guys, I am selling a Bill Amberg leather travel bag. It's a good bag, but it doesn't really suit my needs anymore. It's actually hard to part with it...let's see if I have any interests. I wish I could just fold it into a little thing and put it in a drawer....

Link in my sig.
