I snagged this on eBay a few months ago for $30. The store's price tag says $295.00, can't believe they let it go so cheap. Brand is Kolte, but I can't seem to find anything about them. Now that the winter salt and snow is disappearing it's almost time to use it.
It's a tote, but the execution is masculine and the leather looks superb. Given it's from Jean Shop, the quality is probably excellent too. If it were $300, I'd have already bought it, but for $450, I'll wait it out.
(The sad thing is that if the exact same bag had a YSL label I probably would've snatched it up and crowed about what a great deal I'd gotten )
Filsons are pretty dull IMHO, and I have a bunch of macho bags that are currently being made fun of here. Ernest alexander is okay, but kinda pricey, and I'm not a fan of messenger bags. For the money I'd buy a billykirk or Jack Spade (they have cheaper canvas lines). I picked up a jack spade swiss brief recently and have been very pleased...
I was considering the ACL x billykirk bag, but went with the filson. don't really regret it as the filson looks more like a briefcase than a bag. I like carrying it to work and surprised at how much I fit in it. i like Jack Spade, have a few items (two wallets, dopp kit) but they seem more commonplace than even the Filsons for some reason. maybe b/c i see them at the outlet stores quite a bit. I actually checked out the Jack Spade store today in Venice, it was a nice store. How are the quality of the bags? I hear Porter x Monocle is coming out with a backpack, I'm pretty excited for that.
Anyone know where to purchase a Coach Harrison tote in suede ? Seems they only have leather now on there site..
can always phone the store on Madison or the men's store. They should both have it unless suede was a fall only colorway. I still want the blue one. I think the Prada print is fine though yes a little feminine. As such I wouldn't mind wearing it.
Not feeling the ebay bag; I'm not crazy about the leather or the treatment... it looks like they've done some odd things to the treatment, and I don't think it will age well. Coach Harrison isn't a bad looking bag, but I've really been disappointed in Coach quality for the price, both in the "details" (kinda icky lining/stitching, so-so or low-grade leathers, etc.) and in the overall "presentation" of the bag. The Prada print is a classic one they've had for a long time; it's a reprint from about 2000 or 2001... I used to have a jacket in that print. It's not particularly feminine (it was released originally in the men's collection), but it IS difficult to wear unless you have the odd/quirky old school Prada/miumiu aesthetic down. For most people, the print comes off looking WAY too loud.
yes, I remember seeing and actually trying on that printed cotton zip-up jacket at the Prada store in NY. it was even on sale and I wanted to buy it but even the size XL wouldn't fit me because the style of the jacket is very fitted.
I need to see this bag in person to see if it's sturdy enough to carry a laptop. stylewise, it's a great summer bag to add interest with a t shirt, jeans, aviators outfit

Yes, definitely check it out in person. Personally, I don't think it would be sturdy enough to fill with anything more than a towel, tshirt, and maybe a water bottle. I think if you try to fill it with stuff, it will also bend/warp weirdly in its shape and look overall quite icky. I also think it's not very big, IIRC. I can't remember the size off hand... but overall, definitely check it out in person. I love the pattern, though, and would love to see a larger bag made with sturdier materials. IIRC, this is a very "entry level" Prada bag, made at a very low cost (for Prada). As such a $300 Prada bag, minus branding, is really a $15-25 bag. EDIT: They've also got it for sale on the Prada e-boutique page www.prada.com They also have two other versions/colors. It's $350... which (as I said) in the Prada realm is like $35. As such, I worry about how it's made. Though it's the same print, it's almost assuredly not the same quality techno-fabric from the 2000 runway season jackets. Those were very well-done fabrics that were quite $$$. This one, for $350, is probably just a printed nylon.
