Anyone has any info on/experience with Jas M.B. bags? I have seen one or two with around 30% discount, and am thinking about getting one. I have searched the forum but it doesn't appear that they have been mentioned at all. Maybe they are not one of the "SF generally approved" makes!?

Nice bags, not too well known in the States. They're quite popular in japan, which is where I've seen them. Good leathers, nice hardware (most I've seen had Riri zippers and such). If the price is right, I'd say go for it, especially if you like that washed/wrinkled/worn sort of goth-ninja look. You might also try yoox; I've seen a few of them on there recently.

They are good bags. Good washes, nice leather, hardware, and construction. They used to be carried at Alan Bilzerian around 2003, and I lusted after them, but never got around to getting one. I did get a leather bracelet from them that had such an extraordinarily strong snap that it actually tore the leather after a while. BTW, it seems that if the SZ guys like it, that Alan Bilzerian will have had it several years ago. The man is really prescient. In addition to bringing Yamamoto to the US, he has carried Jas M.B., Number (N)ine, Carpe Diem, Krones + Kin, MA+, Rick Owens, Morishita Kiminori, etc... well before anyone else.

I've handled a couple and I was never impressed with the leathers used. The designs are great though.

Materials and construction leave A LOT to be desired.

Really? I can't speak for their longevity, but I really liked some of the treatments, and the leather seemed to be decent quality. Of course, you are the man with a million purses, so...

Unfortunately, yes. I've actually liked a number of their bags from past seasons, but I've read horror stories on tPF about hardware breaking and leather ripping. I've had some girl friends who have had issues with Jas MB bags as well. Straps breaking, seams coming undone, etc.

My grease grey messenger bag is superb, construction and zippers/straps very well made.

I'm thinking about selling since I don't really have use for bags though.

I have the old school medium in grease black. Love it. Have never had a problem with the leather or hardware.

Like a lot (or all) bag brands, I guess the main thing for the OP is either to check them out in person OR make sure wherever you get it (if online) has a good returns policy. As I mentioned, the ones I have handled in Japan all had Riri zippers, decent leathers, and pretty good construction for the prices (which were under $1000, IIRC). Nevertheless, that washed/worn smooshy/treated sort of styling isn't my thing, so I never actually bought one in order to tell longevity. It's good to know some complaints/drawbacks... the brand is still small enough that hopefully they can fix these issues. They definitely don't want to piss off the Japanese buyers; if they get the rep of making ****** fall-apart bags... they're screwed!
