alright just a little background, obviously i am a newbie here by my post amounts

but i am about 6'5 255 trying to lose weight (already 20 lbs) from my collegiate football career.

currently i am getting into style and purchasing higher end apparel than what I used to. my collection is small i have one pair of 7's and a pair of Monarchs (dark blue), i also have 2 cardigans, a pair of v-necks, and a few alfani t's. now i am still in college so my budget is very very small.

the only problem that I am having is that with my frame i tend to need XXL size stuff and about 40 size jeans.

are there any suggestions as to brand or styles you would tend to lean towards for my body type

40 inch waist may be tough in some denim brands.

Asking some of the real pros like Kiya or Whodini in the Jeans thread at the top of the forum is probably your best bet.

Well...

1. Your size makes this harder, obviously, but that you've come here looking for advice is a good start. You may have trouble finding stuff, i'd suggest looking out for some of the larger guys around here, and there are some and speaking with them... good job on the weight loss, and it still sounds like you've got a ways to go though...

2. "getting into style", this takes a long long time to do. It's not something that happens overnight. It's a long learning process and I wouldn't approach it as "I'll go buy some stuff that's in fashion and then I'll be in "style" and it'll all be good. if you're interested in developing a personal sense of style it will take a fair amount of time, patience, the ability to let go of the mistakes you will inevitably make, and:

3. Money. the good thing about "style" is it doesn't really require that much money. Fashion, almost always does. it's a business. You can go to thrift shops and fill in stuff for now...

basically, just take it slow, fill in stuff you need as you go, try to get items that will last a while and can be altered to fit as you lose weight

well thanks guys! i'm trying to get it all turned around, the baggy sweats i wore to class just arent going to suffice in the real world in a few months.

i hate being this big and as for the future i just dont think my frame will reduce past a 38 waist, but it will open up more options the amount of jeans offered at 38 compared to 40 is exponential. take a look next time you are out its amazing!!!!

hmm, sounds like you might want to get to around 200-210 or so. Even then, a 40" waist at 6'5" 255 still seems rather large.

u of idaho, ya and the size 40 waist was when i was about 260ish and they are starting to get baggy on me, i just dont feel the need to tailor jeans. it seems a bit much for jeans imo
