In deference to Mrs. Clarinetplayer, I agreed to see the movie, "Ladies in Lavender", starring Judi Dench and Maggie Smith. To be honest, I wasn't all that keen on going, but once the movie began, I was pleasantly surprised and delighted. Shouldn't have been with great actresses such as Dench and Smith. An added plus was the dress of the men in this ficticious English coastal town in the pre WW II years. EVERYONE wore great suits, vests, and shirts when the occasion demands. And, there is a wonderful visit to what a gentlemen's clothing shop must have been like in the 1930s. Sigh. It wasn't until I was leaving the theater that I realized that the young actor who plays the Polish violinist was the star of the neat film, "Goodbye, Lenin". I'm sure that "Ladies" will soon be available in DVD. I, of course, should always heed the advice of Mrs. Clarinetplayer.
