If it's warm in SF, ribeye, if it's cold or rainy, prime rib.

Ribeye, though the best piece of beef I've ever eaten was prime rib, smoked over mesquite wood in back of the restaurant by the owner. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it....

I almost only eat ribeye when I eat steak, but isn't prime rib the same cut just cooked differently? Anyway, will probably wimp out and get ribeye as usual.

PR is the same cut, sort of. Unlike a rib steak (technically, a rib steak has the bone, a rib eye does not), a prime rib is roasted whole, three or more ribs at a time, then sliced afterward. The difference in texture is very great. I think the flavor comes through better from the steak as well.

PR is nice for feeding a lot of people, however.

Ribeye.

One and the same - different cooking method with prime rib as they are roasted as a group of several ribs, rib eye steak is a single rib with bone or without and is grilled.
