Getting a tie tailored to be more 'skinny'?

Hi everyone!

I have a huge collection of nice ties that are still great, but are now too wide because of the current narrow trends.

Has anyone ever had any experience or even heard of getting a tie tailored to be more skinny? Any guess on how much that would cost?

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but do normal tailors (NYC custom) have the know-how to perform a narrowing?

Had it done years ago when ties narrowed. It worked.
I had an excellent tailor (in Chicago) now deceased.
I regreted having done it, as ties widened again.

Tiecrafters in NYC does an excellent job.

I now stick with exclusively 8cm width ties....not too wide, not too narrow- always in style.

Maybe I'm just a square but I'm wondering why anyone would want to have a tie narrowed just to follow a fad. Unless the tie is extremely wide and warrants a narrowing, why do it?

Not really. Seven or 8 years ago ties were 8.7 cm on average. That is 3.75 in
to 4 in. Your "always in style" is slightly more than 3in which is definitely on the narrow side of
the tie width cycle for the past 40 years.

It's not necessarily to get the tie as narrow as the narrow you are referring to, but just to slim it down a tad. The thick tie with the slimmer lapels bug me more than it should.
