Does anyone personally pay for a Gold or Platinum Amex? Is there any advantage other than a $450 annual fee?

IF you travel a lot, it may be worth it for lounges, upgrades, etc... Plus you can take your points in BB gift cards.. LOL.

Threaten to cancel before the next annual fee. More often than not they might waive it.

I have mine pretty much only for lounge access. Other advantages have little value to me

I used to get it for free because of investments with Fidelity...but they do not do that anymore so I dumped the card.

I have a Bank of America Accolades American Express which gives you the Priority Pass membership prestige level...so you can get into most airport lounges.

I heard there is no limit on it, as the person claimed their relative purchased an entire vehicle on the card. Anyone know about truth on black cards? and if there are any other incentives?

I have an uncle who uses his platinum for literally every purchase he makes, and he has millions of reward points. never spends them. ever. it's crazy.

I had the gold and "downgraded" to the Blue Cash card - I get a couple grand a year cashback - it's pretty sweet come August!

There is no limit on any Amex. They will let you buy anything as long as you have shown an ability to pay.
