Calorie Counters

Yo. What's the most accurate online calorie counter? Currently I use fitday, but there are some days when I doubt it's that accurate. Today, for example, it says 1600 cal while I'm almost positive it was at least 19-2000. I've heard the Livestrong one is better, because it has more options. Just looking for the most accurate counter. Now that I've lost a lot of weight and am more focused on body composition versus total weight loss, I'm trying to find my cals and get my macros around 40/40/20.

Any help is appreciated.

Why do you think its more?

Well, I'm not sure.
I'll list my food list for the day and you can tell me if 1600 seems off or if I'm just being paranoid.

16 oz coffee
2 oz milk
1 tablespoon sugar

2 slices multigrain bread
1 oz roast beef

4 slices multigrain bread
3 oz american cheese
4 oz beef tenderloin
4 tablespoon butter

2 light beers

I guess I probably feel like my cal count should be higher because I consumed a lot more carbs and butter than I usually do. I'm normally close to 40/40/20 but today was more like 50 fat/20 pro/25 cho/5 alcohol

Edit: Actually, now that I look at it, I guess the cal count makes sense. I didn't really eat that much food, and nowhere near enough protein, probably why I'm still hungry.

I've used Fitday for a while, and found it pretty damn accurate. I had some serious issues with accuracy in the downloaded PC version, though. My girlfriend uses the Livestrong version on her Iphone and it, from what I've seen, is equally as accurate. I will say that it is easier to keep up with carbs in breads by weighing the bread instead of counting 'slices'.

What he said.

Calorie King has probably the best free online food database IMO.

^btw, for any not completely basic or arguable food, i enter it in calorie king and add it to fitday as a custom food.

My carbs usually come solely from 1 piece of bread w/ eggs for b-fast, 1 tblsp sugar in coffee, and green veg w/ dinner, plus whatever fruit I have that day. Today I just went nuts, easier to throw together a sammich than cook.

Cool, thanks Ludey.

Well any calorie counting system is only going to be as good as your ability to estimate accurately what your eating and how well the food your eating matches up with the food you selected (and is available) from the database. If you think what your eating isn't representative of the fitday database then try the Livestrong. But what your eating sounds fairly straightforward so I don't see any reason why it would be off. You could try entering the same thing into the livestrong program and see if they are any different.

+1 for Calorie King.

Accuracy will be dependent on your ability to enter in the correct amounts of food consumed.

Get a food scale. Search Amazon for 'Escali scale' There's a really cheap but good one for 25 bucks.

That's the brand I have, except $25 is pretty expensive for it.
I know the information I entered was accurate, the only thing I doubted was the accuracy of their information. Which can either be solved by adding in my own ingredients or not caring if the calories aren't 100% exact.

Another thing to mention is you should not get obsessive with being really really close to the true amount of calories taken in. If you're eating good enough with a good enough physical activity schedule, then being off a bit on the calories won't have an appreciable effect on your body.
