You misunderstood, I'm talking about the toe box. Plaza is the most modern looking last the toebox should be more blunt like the rl or even vass-like.

Why would that be? I don't think they look any better, in fact I vastly prefer Wingtips to Longwings (although it doesn't help that most of the Longwings I can recall seeing have been clunky and poorly shaped).

Longwings. I have a couple of pairs of DM 3989s in grey and red and a couple of pairs of imperials with nice thick double soles and I wear them all quite a bit. I don't own any wingtips.

Sorry to get a little off topic, but what is the difference between longwings and wingtips?

The details are slightly different (i.e. the toe cap wraps all the way around the shoe, hence the name).

Also, longwings tend to have double soles and are generally heavy, not-at-all-sleek shoes, which is why they're sometimes referred to as "gunboats". Also they're usually bluchers, meaning they have open lacing rather than closed lacing as on an oxford (also visible in the pictures).

Thanks for this, I too wasn't sure of the difference, need to spend more time lurking at MC

Longwings > , IMO.

Wingtips are too Don Draper, I am looking for something I can wear with jeans or a suit.

Well, as I said, I prefer wingtips, as I like their sleekness. However, a lot SF members wear wear heavy Japanese repro denim (which is usually like the 501 in cut), so bulky longwings fit into that look pretty naturally. Since I wear skinnier, lighter pants, I think wingtips work better for me.

What color do you mean? I can only imagine black looking polished like that, which I don't think would work with jeans at all.
