Visiting NYC Mid-May

Thread Starter
It's been eons since I was last in NYC and I am looking forward to spending three or four days somewhere around May 12-16.

Restaurants and attraction I have covered but, given the time of year, what should I expect in terms of sales events?

Is it worth the time to take a side trip to Woodbury Common? Other than when the RL outlet gets a new shipment is it hit and miss in terms of what they have in stock especially in terms of suits and jackets?

I want to check out Leffot but I doubt they will have anything other than retail prices going on.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Sales -- who can say these days? In the past, all summer sales would've started in about mid-July, but I noticed an add for Macy's with their spring stuff on sale now. I would just keep a good eye out.

WC -- I wouldn't take the time. It'd be probably a full half day to go up there. Typically I don't find anything worth the trip and leave empty handed. As a good rule of thumb, if there's something you really need and would pay retail for, I check out WC to see if there's a cheaper version. If not, the discount usually isn't satisfactory to justify the cost of something I don't need. In addition, the quality often isn't very high at some of the nicer stores (e.g., Zegna, Brooks Bros., Barneys).

Yes, Leffot is nice to check out, as are some of the other higher-priced boutiques (Vacca, Kos, Elliott, Paul Stuart, Duncan Quinn, Davide Cenci) and the big dept. stores (Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys), just because you don't get this stuff outside NYC very much and it's fun to see their well-edited selections.
