How's the quality of Rag and Bone shirts nowadays since Theory took over? I remember reading here that they were going downhill.

I'm looking at buying a 3/4 placket shirt on sale online which is a "slim fit" and am wondering if I should size up from my regular R&B size to an XL. A while ago I tried on some of their shirts (regular, non-slim fit) tagged 16 and L and they fit comfortably in the shoulders and chest, not tight but not too baggy either. I'm a 42 chest and 18.5 shoulder but their size chart is just confusing. According to it, I shouldn't have been able to even button up a size L. What's up with the extremely small measurements (size L = 40 = 39" chest, size XL = 44 = 43" chest)?

"Nowadays?" They were bought by Theory several years ago. Any issues they've had has little to nothing to do with their parent company. And even when Theory bought them, their line wasn't nearly as fleshed out as it is today, ie, footwear, basics, etc.

But their shirts are still well-made and they still use good fabrics. I really like their use of painted buttons. The biggest problem they've faced has been their pricing, which as Mike pointed out a few years back in this thread has ballooned over the years.

r&b shirts fit true to size. Their listed measurements are off.

That's good to hear, thanks whodini. Luckily the shirt I'm interested in is on sale. Is there a big difference in sizing and cut between their regular and "slim fit" shirts? I've only had experience with the former and the fit was just right (neither loose nor tight).

Like I said, r&b is made to fit tts. If you don't typically wear brands that are cut slim (like APC or Band among others), then size up.

Yep, I picked up a r&b 3/4 placket shirt on sale a few months ago, and the fit is very slim albeit still true to size. I'm a true xs and the xs fits perfectly. Quality (especially the fabric) and construction is fantastic as well, holding up just as well as my pieces from a few years back.

I've found that the shirts can even run small, very much like BoO, depending on the particular shirt. I'm a pretty standard small and tried on a shirt recently that was on sale (it's blue with white and red stripes, if that helps) only to find that the small was too small. But I tried on an older R&B small at the Barney's warehouse sale a couple weeks back and found that it fit perfectly. I would say if the shirt looks like it will fit spot on, go with your normal size (with who's advice in mind that it will be slim), but if you think you're between sizes, then you may want to size up.

Does anyone have a white or ivory Rag and Bone henley like the one on Mr Porter? http://www.mrporter.com/product/302722
Is the see through marled texture that obvious in person? Quality?
