Watch @ $500: Seiko vs Tissot vs Certina?

Who wins quality wise?

That depends on which model you are getting. I would say both Tissot and Certina would be better buys than Seiko at that price range. You can get a Tissot with ETA2824-2 for 500 msrp (a lot cheaper online). I personally have a Tissot Le Locle, which sports the ETA2824-2 automatic movement. I paid a lot less than MSRP, and I think the quality is well worth the price.

I like Stowa Antea KS at that price range.

Which Seiko? If it has a 7S26 movement, and the Tissot or Certina has a 2824, get the Tissot. If it has a 6R15, get the Seiko.

I recently purchase this watch and absolutely love it. Can't compare it to the others though because I have no experience with them.

Love this Seiko, also from Seiya, and only $324: http://www.seiyajapan.com/product/S-...5_SCVS013.html

From personal experience with Seiko and Tissot: I'd have to go with Tissot. looks "more expensive" than the rest, the sapphire crystal is quite nice as I've banged mine up quite a bit with little effects and at the end of the day, its still a full swiss movement watch and in the watch case: Swiss>Jap. Just my Rs 4,748,034 Rupees

I really like this tissot which I have:

You could also consider the hamilton jazzmaster viewmatic:

All of the swiss made watches in this price range are going to have the same ETA 2824 movement inside so it's pretty much a wash there. Seiko 6r15 is also a good movement in their Spirit, Mechanical and Prospex lines. What kind of watch are you looking for, dress, diver, or ??? I would be sure to check out Hamilton in this range as well. You might consider the Watchuseek forum for watch quality questions and then come back here to see if it is SF approved brand/looks. I like the Jazzmaster. Jazzmaster in a case the size of the Spirit would be a killer watch.

They have one, I've been drooling over it for a while, if only I had the money:
