Do you watch movie credits?

Thread Starter
I just recently watched Slumdog Millionaire and felt unsure as to whether I should watch the credits or not. The movie was brilliant and I feel in debt to the makers but watching the credits won't help them at all. But could it be considered disrespectful to not spend a few moments of your time reflecting on the makers of the film? I did watch the 'flashy credits' but I left it there.

So, I'm curious what other people think about this, it's a pretty trivial topic but considering how big the movie industry is, I think it deserves some mention, and I'm genuinely curious.

Do you watch the movie credits?

Only if I want to see who a particular person was. But in general there's IMDB for that too, so watching credits has become less meaningful.

Yes, I do.

When I'm watching a movie at the theater I always watch the credits until the crowd thins out, unless whomever I'm with wants to leave immediately.

At home on TV or DVD I'll watch the credits if I want to find the name of a certain cast member ("Wow, who's that chick?") or identify a song on the soundtrack.

Now that there seems to be a mini-movie at the end of a lot of movies I feel I have to sit there and see who the Key Grip and Best Boy were.

Better to do that then pay to see Iron Man again just to see Sam Jackson as Nick Fury.

Also what the hell is a grip? I always wondered and never bothered googling. And I won't bother this time. My only chance to know the answer is one of you!!!

I think they do electrical work. That or they're like foreman.

Yes. I picked up this habit from my folks.

I do it out of respect for those who worked on the movie.

Not unless it's a blooper reel or some such. Although (GHEY MOMENT ALERT), the sequences at the end of Momma Mia! were worth sitting through. Well, if you like that sort of thing.

I haven't been to the movies in ages, because nothing really appeals these days, but when I do go I often stay for at least part of the credits for various reasons: wait for the crowd to thin; gain information about the movie (song, actor); or if I think there will be a hidden scene at the end, like Slopho mentioned in Iron Man.

But I don't really watch out of courtesy to the makers of the film.

I like to look at credits of older movies just to see which present big star was "waiter #2"

Ha, yeah. I like that too. I was watching "The Burbs" last night and saw that Nicky Katt played a garbage man I think....not a big star, but funny to see.

It depends. If I really enjoyed the movie the credits give me a chance to just sit there and continue to think about it. If not, than they are just a waste of my time.

I've watched on occasion.
