Are there any Connoisseurs of 'The Shandy' - Beer and Lemonade?. I wouldn't be caught dead with one of these however I am interested if there are any serious fans out there.

Not in public, but I've been known to indulge on my own terrace on a hot summers day. I like diet lemonade as its less sugar, and I use a 5% beer.

I quietly call myself a pansy under my breath before I drink it.

I will drink shandy at the pub on a hot day, a local bitter with lemonade or ginger ale/beer.

If we call it a Radler - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radler - I like it a lot and it also is socially accepted to drink one.

+1 To liking one on a hot day. However, as opposed to typical half and half proportions, I prefer a bit more beer, say 3 parts to 1 of lemonade. Bit more kick and less sugar.

I used to mix something called a Strip and Go Naked (not to be confused with Skip and Go...) that is lemonade, beer and vodka. Tasty on a hot summer's day, but one of those sneaky drinks: you have one, have another, think nothing of it and all of a sudden you are completely, out-of-your-gourd drunk.

I keep a mix of this in the golf cart on a hot summers day. It is also great while out on the water while boating.

Perfect application.

Do you ice it? For some reason with vodka I think ice is required.

I drank them when I played rugby. I dont understadn why guys think they are panzi drinks.
In the summer they are refreshing and before you know it you are drunk.
I would drink a shandy before a light beer ( uber panzi)any day of the week.

During the summer, yeah. I drink them. It's one way to choke down a crap light beer that got left at the casa.

When I was in Nigeria last year, my dad showed my how to shandy a beer. WE proceeded to go through a few bottles of Guilder and Sprite. Awesome moment with my dad, since he's old and lives on the dark continent I hope to have another soon. I'll post a pic later.

On that note, this is something I should remember the next time I'm forcing $1 PBR's down my throat.

Used to drink these as a kid in the summer in France, but we called it panache. I always felt like the man coming out of the market with a six pack.
