Another collab by Raf Simons x Doc Marten, this time they're lanvin style metallic shoes and boots (even monkstraps) in copper, bronze and gold. There are also a few simpler choices.

Saw them in D's showroom a few months ago. The monkstraps are awesome in person and the multi laced ones on the bottom.

hasn't that silvery looking boot been something doc martens has offered off and on for a while? I remember lusting over a pair almost identical to those a kid had when I was in 6th or 7th grade.

There was a silver one off and on throughout the ninties. Nowhere near that quality though. I remember it looking pretty nasty when I saw a pair and that was when I would have bought Doc slippers if they had made them.

Those bronze monkstraps look sweet. Still like the Stussy x DM collabs better I think. too much junior high love not to buy them.

Ugly! I bet the price is outrageous, and they are all made in China.

The monkstraps really save the whole thing for me.

if they didn't have the trademark yellow stitching, i think a lot of people would be all over there (and maybe if they didn't carry the Dr. name)

Thought this was posted a while ago?

Like most all Raf I see, I appreciate it conceptually, but wouldn't have it any where near my feet. I don't think it's fair to call it gimmickry but I can understand where that criticism comes from.

At his best Raf reinterprets clothing in novel and unexpected ways; but this is often at the expense of aesthetics and notions of form. Instead of drawing on a certain pallette, silhouette or sub culture as many of his ilk in the so-called "avant-garde" do, Raf collections draw simply on his desire for reinterpretation and novelty.

Obviously there are exceptions such as Doc's having potent sub-culture meaning etc... but I think this just another way for Raf to express his (genuinely brilliant) design sensibilities and the fact that they happen to be Doc Marten's is largely incidental.
