god dammit javyn. You keep bitching about how you're so skinny and can't gain weight, yet all you have for breakfast most days is apple juice?? wtf.

I'm going to stay on you until you start eating properly.

Along with 3 teaspoons of algae, with a protein content so highly digestible it's the equivalent of eating a steak. (algaes 60-90% digestible, beef 20-30%)

Javyn, do you have any reputable studies backing this up? As a vegetarian who is always protein-challenged, I am very interested in the veracity or otherwise of this. The reports I have read like this one are not very supportive of these claims.

Without reading the thread (to see if its been posted) this is my breakfast:

In a blender the night before: oatmeal, peanut butter, banana, milk, and protein powder.
Put in fridge overnight.
Wake up.
Blend.
Drink while getting dressed.

There is very little research done in the US on Chlorella or Spirulina, anything you read here is going to be baseless hype. Try a google scholar or pubmed search, tons of scientific studies on both have been done in Japan, where these algaes are more popular as supplements than Vitamin C is here.

My usual is 6-12 ounces of plain greek yogurt or kefir (high protein content, live cultures, etc) + fruit. If I feel like I need more protein, I'll throw some eggs or meat (roast beef, leftovers) in.

6oz of yogurt is about 8g protein- How could you not need more? Same question for those of you just eating oatmeal.

I have plain greek stuff that's 18g of protein in a 6oz serving. If it's not that, I'll most likely have about 12oz of kefir with 21g in a 12 oz glass. (14g per 8oz serving) In all honesty I don't think I ever have less than 25g of protein with my breakfast - i usually have a bit more cheese, meat, etc. Plus if I am training heavy, I'll do protein shakes.

I've been having scottish oatmeal for breakfast for the past couple of weeks. Do I need to add protein? I usually save the protein shake for workout days.

I only eat oatmeal a few/week, but when I do, I add protein powder and have turkey bacon along with it. I find it hard enough to get enough protein without essentialy excluding it from any meal.

it really doesn't make that much of a difference if you eat 6 small meals or one huge meal every day.
