Short Hair - What Do You Use?

So I have short cut black hair. I am not looking for hold or anything, just something that will give a good shine and maybe texture. What do you use wax, pomade, what brand?

Vo5 texturising gum.

Bumble and Bumble Sumo Wax or Sumo Tech.

The wax is shinier and a little bit goes a long way.

Best stuff for the price is Pantene Pro-V Texturize Sculpting Wax that comes in around only $5.

Best "salon" stuff I've found is KMS California HairPlay Molding Paste, which comes in around $20-25.

Since the op wants some shine Sumo wax would be good.

I used to use sumo tech but find that aveda men's grooming clay works very well with my hair (both those give a matte finish).

I use Aveda's control paste and also their Liquid Pomade. They both add some shine but the liquid pomade is a little bit softer.

j-crew pomade just for some shine and weight, if I'm molding it into anything for a night out, KMS molding paste mentioned earlier

TIGI Bedhead Manipulator. Blue goop, basically, lol.

+2 on KMS Hair Play.

I also used Ojon texture cream (in a tube) that works rather well.

I moved on to try Jonathan "Dirt" which comes in a cannister. Also works pretty well, but better on dry hair it seems.

I'll second the Pantene, I used to always buy the expensive stuff in salons and was in a pinch one day. I found this at Target for $3.99 and haven't used anything since. Works great in both wet and dry hair but I've found it best with towel dried hair a little damp.

When my hair is longer, especially when it gets cold, I use Aveda. Now that my hair is much shorter, I mix a bit of Aveda with whatever Suave or Crew bullshit is lying around the bathroom in my hall so my head doesn't get overwhelmed. I switch between that and Peter Thomas Roth which I like alot.
