Hi everyone,

This is my first post on SF.

I have a question about different Gitman brands and shirt sizing.

It seems that there is the regular GItman Bros and Gitman Vintage. I've also seen Gitman Blue and Gitman Gold online before. What are those? Do all of them have the same fit?

Fit wise, right now I am specifically wondering about the fit between Gitman Bros vs. Gitman Vintage.

I have a Vintage short sleeve shirt which fit me perfectly until I washed it. Now its a little small.

I'm wondering if Gitman Bros have a slightly bigger fit than the VIntage so that it will fit me well after washing.

I recently got a Gant Rugger shirt and a Gant by MB shirt. They had completely different fits so wondering if something similar goes for GItman.

Thanks in advance.

I only have Gitman Vintage, but I have read and seen pictures of regular Gitman Bros. and it seems like they are more boxy than slim GBV. It also depends on which season and materials of the GBV shirts (I think), because one of my Japanese cotton GBV from MyHabit is tagged XS but is more like a XXS, while my other GBVs fit well.

Yes Gitman Bros shirts in general, are a fuller cut than the GBV. I have a Gitman Bros shirt and many GBV shirts, and I had the Gitman Bros shirt tailored to match the fit of my GBV shirts.

Anyone seen this shirt stocked in XL:

Oi Polloi and Bureau both had it, but I slept and missed out. :/

What are your thoughts on the new suits by Gitman Vintage for Unionmade? Oxford weave seems kinda cool.

they look good, good details just like you would expect.

i bought a GBV linen jacket from context when they had the collab. very well done but its too big on me so its on ebay now...

Overpriced just like everything else on Unionmade.

I do quite a bit with the standard color oxfords. Knit ties and a blazer looks particularly good I think. Definitely more casual. I've done a few more casual silks and cotton ties as well. No madder prints or anything though. That would look a bit off.

It's actually for a wedding in Cyprus with a casual dress code. The heat will be crazy so may not wear a blazer at all. I have two ties I was considering - one is knitted, the other is a Hill-Side one with a pretty crazy print, but the oxford is white so I think it could work...

Anyway, thanks for the advice!

Has anyone tried sizing down one on the short sleeved GV shirts for a slimmer, untucked summer fit? I suppose it should work out, right? Medium long sleeved shirts fit me well, but not particularly slim, and I usual tuck them. I'm thinking a medium short sleeved shirt would look a bit billowy and long if untucked.

I just ordered a GV short sleeved shirt - according to Hickorees (I have no idea if their measurements are usually accurate), the SS shirts are shorter than the LS in the same size. For example, this SS shirt is 3.5" shorter than the LS shirt in Large:

Does hemming the length of gitman shirts also take out the hip flair? I actually like the hip flair but worried that if I get it taken in about 2" that the hip flair will also go in because the person doing the sewing will sew it back to horizontal, which would be weird because part of it flaires out.

Ah, that's good to know! Let us know how they compare...

In my experience, the short sleeves fit much slimmer in the same size.
