rule of thumb for GBV...

the louder the shirt...

the smaller it fits..

...nobody buys that stuff in XL....or L even ... lol

Anyway, finally decided to go try on some GBV shirts at the local Barneys today - Medium fits pretty well, especially on the shoulders. The sleeves are about an inch too short as opposed to most mediums, body is insanely huge, and length (top/bottom) is fairly short...

Is this the same for most people?

I wear small and I find the shoulders to fit perfectly. The sleeves for me, are about an inch too long. But I'm short and skinny. I'd like the shirts more if the body was taken in. The overall shirt length for me, is typically spot on. As far as inconsistency goes, I haven't noticed any variance in the size small shirts I own, both short and long sleeve.

A few years ago I could get away with XS, but the chest was on the tight side. Everything else was great though. I definitely couldn't do XS now.

In other news I'm kinda digging the 1979 madras at Context.

Hey Guys,

Independence has a bunch of good SS13 shirts available, which you can find here...

I also wanted to give you a heads up on one shirt we have that we are exclusive on in the states, which is the Panda Print. If you have been looking, we have them and have all sizes currently, but they are moving quickly.

Would look better with less pandas on the shirt imo.

Nah, it's a great print. From afar it looks like a really nice floral, the blue is great and subtle.

Okay, I decided to take some pictures of the shirt - wanted to see what you guys thought about the fit and length of the overall shirt - granted this is a new one, so I don't know if it'll shrink after I decide on whether I want to purchase from the Barneys here.

As mentioned before the body is VERY roomy, you can't really tell from the photos. The shoulders feel a tiny bit small and so do the sleeve's length but strangely enough looks okay in the photos.

button up another button and the body won't feel as roomy lol. all the gitman shirts i've owned always fit tight in the shoulder the fit looks fine with two buttons undone the length looks like it wants to be tucked in though.

if you went down a size it would probably start pulling at the buttons.

oops double post

gitman fabrics are prewashed. so there shouldn't be much shrinkage if any post-wash. shirt looks fine. all the gitman vintage shirts have that parachute back

Thanks fellas - I think if I do start collecting GBV shirts I'd do it for the casual, untucked look. Most of my shirts are long and are def meant to be tucked in (BBBF and TB).

I've read that certain fabrics/patterns run small - is this true? For instance the 'blackwatch' shirt; if I were a Medium, I'd need a Large - why is that?

this is because they don't wash the shirts till after it's been made and different fabrics shrink differently.

you could always get a shirt shortened if you really wanted.

This is exactly what I came into this thread to ask: Who, besides Tres Bien Shop, is carrying the panda print in a long-sleeve version? Looking for a large.
