^FWIW, some stockists have responded about the shirts. (they are different)

"The chambray-oxford blend is a newish fabric for Gitman. It's actually lighter weight than both the AW chambray and their standard oxford. The most significant difference perhaps is that the weft, the horizontal fibers, is much more obvious in this fabric blend, which gives it a great, subtle texture."

"There is a slight difference, as the Chambray oxfords have a very subtle dyed warp with a white weft weave, but with a lighter hand than a regular oxford, which has a more rigid weave."

hm, interesting. Guess I was completely wrong. That first description of the chambray oxford fabric is really nice and informative.

I really like the new chambray-oxford fabric, probably my favorite Gitman fabric I've felt yet. It's a nice middle weight chambray feeling fabric that seems like a comfortable option for all year wear. The oxfords are a little heavy feeling sometimes, especially in hot summer months, while the poplins and some others feel too light for all year wear. These hit perfectly in the middle for my taste. I ended up picking up both the stripes and the green one from Context and they are getting lots of wear already.

^ Do you have their normal "chambray"--if so, how does it compare? I'm curious if I should just go with the chambray-oxford or scour the Internet a little more ...

I don't own one, but from the Context site it looks like the dark blue chambray they have is their normal chambray (all the others say chambray oxford) so I've felt it while I was in the shop and didn't notice a significant difference in fabric weight or feel. I actually considered that shirt for a while but I already have so many standard blue chambrays I decided to go with the more interesting green and striped options. I say go for the chambray-oxford, but like I said I'm really a fan of the fabric. Wearing my grey stripe one today actually.

I finally got a chance to try on some of the Gitman Fall stock and was really impressed by the materials they used but the overall fit was WAY off than in past collections. So, just to make it easier to read, here goes...

Japanese Overdyed Yarn - They have some gorgeous color patterns in these but the sizing could make you mental, the medium was too small and the large was too big, ended up walking away from some really nice colorways because I just could NOT get into the fit. Damn good shirts if you can pull them off though.

Japanese Chambray - GET THEM, ALL OF THEM. I came away with the Gray/White Hickory stripe and can't stop obsessing over the feel and the fit of the shirt, also the Green/Gray that everybody had been mysteriously fawning over a couple pages back... It's green, no ifs ands or buts about it, the ******* shirt is GREEN, it just has a clay-ish look to it, but under a light, GREEN as can be.

Portugese Beefy Flannel - Pretty cool concept but again like the Japanese Yarn shirts the fit is a bit odd, very lumberjack-ish and the Portugese flannel is about as close as you can get to REAL flannel, the colorways could have been a bit more interesting but I am sure many will find these shirts to be the most unique of the bunch. Had too much of a Northwestern Territory feel to it when I tried it on, almost felt like I was a kid at Target in the early 90's all over again, when I was busy trying to do my best Cobain impression.

The chambray-oxford is a very nice fabric. Problem I had was that it fit a little tight in the chest, though not quite as tight as the lighter weight summer plaid long sleeves. The class oxfords fit me great in medium. But I had to return the green and blue chambray-oxfords.

I see that Need Supply has the same Tan and Dark Navy (Overdyed Navy) as Context. However NS has theirs titled as 'Cambridge' whereas Context has Oxford in the title. Same shirts, just different names?

South Willard has the rest of their shipment up. Dunno if they're getting another, but this one is depressingly boring after seeing how awesome the first two shirts were

I like their buy. Couple of shirts I plan on getting.

Picked up the grey/green chambray Oxford from need supply--saw the material today, it's pretty nice, would love to see a list of all the different colors.

I just noticed that Nitty Gritty Store has a few new shirts (for those of us who are in Europe) including this crazy print:

With all the confusion over colors and model names amongst the various vendors, one wishes they could either be more consistent in their descriptions, or that Gitman would offer a definitive guide or explanation at their website. Or is that confusion part of what makes searching/shopping for these shirts an exciting adventure?
