Gitman Brothers Vintage - Page 176

It's gorgeous... The brushed cotton is some of the best material he's used in quite a while. The little flecks are just an additional feature to love, it's a shame SW couldn't get a re-order on the Blue one as well, that thing is a killer.

Yeah, I was about to mention that I would've sprung for the blue one. I've got a charcoal chambray from GBV already, so I'd feel like the flecked charcoal would just be too similar in terms of looks (barring the material of course)

Yeah I almost didn't get it because I have a couple grayish chambray's from years past but than I realized that none of them felt like this and the little flecks are actually quite noticeable so it worked out in the end, can't wait to see the fall stuff, dude told me Gitman is taking it to a whole different level next season.

Hrmmm kind of a sucker for sea island stuff... did you happen to check those out?

The quintessential summer shirt. I would have bought the blue one but could only budget one today not to mention I already have the GV ocean chambray and two other linen/chambray blend shirts that are also light blue. I would recommend it in a heartbeat, it's unbelievably soft and the color is gorgeous.

Nice, means the new stuff (Indian prints, buffalo and glen plaid) that previewed in spring should be comin out soon

I hope so, I'm bored of this season already, it's pretty bland.

If I have to buy that buffalo check Gitman in the middle of July to make sure I get one, that's what I'll do.

The threads they use for buttonhole stitching feel too hard for the shirts' fabrics. In fact, one side of the buttonhole stitching tore away on one of my GV shirts when I pulled it from the rather tight-fitting jeans I was wearing.

Another GV shirt, which I got today from Context, had a botched extra line of stitching on the hem of the sleeve (it was a short-sleeved one). I just removed it, but this is really unacceptable for an item with a retail price this high and the fact that I bought it on sale doesn't matter.

I semi agree. Almost all of my gitman shirts have had QC issues, both at retail and at a discount. Not to mention that the fit differs drastically on all of them. I love the thickness of the oxford cloth and the high collar, but sometimes it makes me shake my head that I drop so much on a shirt that has these issues...

I agree. I own 4 of them, and there are issues like stray threads at the hems, and the thread in the buttonholes are giving away. Sometimes I just wonder if it's best to just buy Uniqlo for OCBD staples. And spend about 20% of the price.

I have these quality issues as well but given gitmans fabrics and slim but not too slim fit its the perfect shirt for me. Usually I try to inspect the short before buying as well if possible
