Yeah, OC stocks them, and they pretty much had the full run of them left in XS at the end of sales season last season. I remember clicking on all the links for the GV shirts on OC (although who knows if it's still in stock) and going ffffuuuu.gif because they were only left in XS. Same with SW... can't remember where else I've seen them, but somehow I'm always under the impression that I can't find any of the size S shirts I want because everyone only has XS left. Grass is always greener on the other side, eh? wink.gif

i.e. this shirt, although I could've sworn it was cheaper before..: http://www.openingceremony.us/products.asp?menuid=1&menuid2=209&designerid=253&productid=44442

I'm pretty skinny myself, similar build to slack tide actually, just a 30" waist and 140-145 pounds. I remember reading these posts from him last year, the pictures convinced me to grab the s/s blue dishtowel shirt a year ago.

Thanks. It is an extremely, extremely light weight.

You could probably ball it up into the something the size of your fist. I think that's what surprises (possibly disappoints?) a lot of people after first seeing/unboxing these spring Gitman shirts. There is no heft, or weight, or any sort of structure. It's just a shirt that's, for me, nicely cut & proportioned and it's up to the wearer to take it from there.

Whereas there has been the EP comparisons...and it's almost apples to oranges, within the realm of comparison - despite them both being "button downs". EP provides a bit of structure because there tends to be more heft (or "beefiness" to the fabric. You can feel it on your body and laying across your shoulders. And a touch of stiffness. Where the Gitman’s feel like you're basically not even wearing a shirt..

Can i ask you about sizing, do you find them tts and if you don't mind what are your measurements?

Got a chambary gitman recently went M as its my usual and im just not fully sure if i got the wrong size or if they just ain't for me. Mine tends to billow out at the back.

Thank you for the compliment

I haven't taken my exact measurements recently, but this may help-

- 5'8", 130 lbs

- 28" waist

- 36 Inch Chest

- Wear small in all shirts, and for pants, whatever the smallest waist size is, offered.

- Somewhat wide shoulders for my frame, with my best fitting shirt, probably about 16.5" S2S.

The fit on certain people can be hit or miss. In reality I think the lighter weight, spring/summer shirts (like the dishtowel) require a somewhat small waist to look correct (assuming you're not tucking in). Otherwise, you get that 'scallop' effect in the front of the shirt (stressing the very bottom button and the shirt attempting to separate) that other's have pointed out. Larger hips can also cause that billowing you mention -- it only accentuates it. The fact they have a tail that hangs down a little doesn't help. However though, as I pointed out, with a slim torso and waist the shirts will drape nicely and naturally and lay flat across your frame (front & rear). I do find them to be 'true to size' (trying to stop using that term), but on the slimmer side of the spectrum. So the shirts are not for all sizes and shapes, in my opinion. Especially the lighter weight spring/summer stuff..

than you again for the compliment

I might be a bit biased here being a stockist of Gitman Vintage (though we carry Gant Rugger as well) but I think its safe to say that gitman is one of the best in the business, at the least in America. the fit is good but what really makes them special to me is the fabrics. the horizontal striped dobby shirt we have here looks like chambray but is quite a bit lighter. my dishtowel shirt is one of my favorite summer go-to's. the bold patterns are just icing on the cake.

Quite a few Gitmans at Mr. Porter's sale, at 50% off; some even at $75, and small sizes.

Need Supply seems to (surprisingly) have this stocked in XS. Sorry if this has been asked before, but does anyone know how this fits? For reference, Gitman's OCBDs in blue in XS fit me perfectly.

GV is cut a little differently.  Find measurements, which shouldn't be to difficult, to compare.  GV will be a cut slimmer through the body.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm just having trouble finding measurements for this shirt. No one seems to have it listed.

I got these measurements from Need Supply a few days ago:

17" pit-to-pit
17" shoulder-to-shoulder
27" shoulder-to-hem
24" shoulder-to-cuff

That's for sz. XS. In my experience the blue oxford buttondown fits larger than their other shirts.

Hey thanks for this. That 17" p2p may prevent me from getting it though confused.gif

You can return if it doesn't fit, a lot of Gitmans (even the same design) might be sized differently between each shirt

Anyone know where I can get a Large Blue Champray Polka Dot that has a discount somewhere (does not need to bea 30 - 50% off sale but something off full price). I missed the Barney sale (now sold out) and looked at every stockist in North America ane some in the EU and came short, with only handful who even have it in stock.

Item # at Barneys is 501539518

They for sure have large in stock (at least as of two days ago), just call any store

Try Park & Bond? They had stock yesterday...

Check that, only XL left. However, I have this shirt and it runs smaller than other GV's I have. Maybe XL will work?

Actuall, the reason why I want a Large is because it runs smaller asI am generally between a M and a L (kind of like Epaulet though between a L and an XL).
