I suspend disbelief, but to what extent depends heavily on context. DH achieved the right balance. Everything that happened in that movie could have happened IRL. The last one was way too far fetched, but it was very entertaining.

The key is to create a believable universe where what is happening could happen not to be realistic (that's boring).

2 for Samuel L. He was just warming up his vocal cords then.

The first one, definitely. No question about it.

The third one was all right. I didn't really like the second one. Forth one was just terrible, but maybe I should see the unrated version.

Pretty much agree with slim, except swap the last two.

Is GQgeek trolling? Cuz this dude makes Connemara look like JLibourel.

here is my take on die hard 2 - the whole movie is based on the plot that they can't comunicate with all of the airplanes circuling washington, because the terrorists have taken control of the communications tower of the airport. how about this - there are dozens of airplanes around, all of which have radios, how come they fucking well don't just use the radio in one of the airplanes on the ground?

that is what pissed me off about the second movie. never saw the later ones, because I was so pissed off about that. the first one was great

Part 1 by far, then part 3. Parts 2 and 4 aren't worth mentioning IMO. 2 tried and failed, but 4 was pure generic Hollywood crap.

A sure fire way of getting me to commit suicide would be forcing me to endure a Die Hard 4 and Independence Day marathon.

1 and 2 were equally good, but 1 gets the edge for innovation. 3 was awful. 4 was entertaining and fun, but not in the same league as 1 and 2.

I didn't like 3 at first, but it grew on me. It doesn't seem to fit in the series, but was still very entertaining nonetheless. 2 seemed to 'fit' into the Die Hard world more, granted, but to me it was rather boring.
