for cheapest dry denim buy Levis shrink to fit. These come in 501s (straight leg, medium rise) and may come in other things too. shrink them. then wear them. they will wear just like regular dry denim. it's not selvedge, but why do you care? -boston

Actually, they'll wear out a lot quicker than, for example, APC jeans. The problem with them (the Levis) is that the denim is made with inferior yarn. Within a few washings, they will start to develop "tufts" because the denim is not made with good quality, long staple yarn. At $40 or so, you get what you pay for, unfortunately. Are APCs worth 3 x as much? Depends on perpective, I guess. In terms of durablility alone I would say that APCs are worth at least twice as much as the regular Levi's shrink to fit.

there's a store in long beach row area, that sells dry jeans for the $90 range. never actually seen a pair though, just read about it from a topic awhile ago. they are recreations of levi style dry jeans

the Long Beach store is Sugar Lee on 4th St English Nick sells his repro Levis bucklebacks (called "Evil") for $95 there. pretty good repro, dry selvage redline denim buckleback.
