Although I don't believe in the statement that '~30g of protein is the most you can absorb in one sitting' I don't think mega-intakes of 80+ grams of WHEY all at once is a good idea (unless you're like 300+ lbs). Whey is supposed to be a fast acting protein. PWO, this is exactly what you're looking for.
I've been reading up on this issue and it doesn't look like there's a solid answer. However, it seems like taking too much protein at once will cause your body to be less efficient at processing it, and will be burned off for energy. Without fiber or fat to slow down the digestion (what you don't want PWO anyway), it seems like too much fast protein PWO will be wasted. You also have the problem of gastrointestinal distress and stress on the liver.
Taking large amounts of whey at once may not kill you, but I've come to view that it's probably not good for you and, at they very least, a bad nutritional value. I'm sticking with ~30g.
