0-2 so far against the lowly, pathetic Orioles. You guys are a bunch of multimillion dollar assclowns.

I have to jump on this two games into the season, because 22 games into the season, the Orioles are going to be buried already.

douglas this happens every year. they start up great (even lasting to the all star braek sometimes), then suck total shit for the rest of the season. being an orioles fan is a world of heartbreak and tears.

That's how most baseball fans feel about their teams.

Believe me, I am well aware of the Orioles' pattern of failure and misery.

The worst part is the inevitable July-August swoon, where they'll go stretches of weeks winning only a handful of games, double-digit losing streaks, crushing late-inning collapses against bitter rivals, and losses of historic proportion.

If I saw Jeffrey Maier today, I would kick him right in the nuts.

It's funny b/c I always think of the Orioles as an AL major powerhouse/WS contender. Probably has to do w/ the fact that my baseball fan days ended following the Mets '69(?) miracle. B'more were the favorites! Boog, Brooks, Frank, etc.

I still try to hold out hope but I think we all know that there will never be a championship in baltimore

You locals might have a better chance with the Nats.

Man, those were the days. Baltimore was really a proud and good franchise for many years. Peter Angelos' mismanagement of the team is really a tragedy. The O's were the only team to win WS championships in the 60s, 70s, and 80s - and they were almost there in the early-mid-90's. Unfortunately, for the past 12 years, they've been abject failures.

I don't know if I'm THAT pessimistic. The Rays almost pulled it off last year, and the O's are finally doing the things they need to do to rebuild. It won't be easy, but with a young core of hitters like they have in Markakis, Wieters, and Jones, and if some of these pitchers ever develop, they could be a competitive team in 3-4 years.

I do fear that 100 losses is pretty much the best we can hope for in 2009, though. We have no pitching. None.

Glad to see you stick up for the home team. We're almost done rebuilding, I can't wait to see you on the bandwagon next year.

Cal Ripken was my hero growing up. I remember his late 90s seasons, still trying to hold out hope.
