I'm starting to like the new look.

I used to not be a MB fan at all. But, after having ridden in an S550 recently, I am a believer. The s550 owns the BMW 7 series in the space of lux lux sedans.

Hate it..looks too much like the Hyundai.

Which explains why literally every automotive journalist/publication has put the new 7 above the S...

I looked at the new 7 a few days ago. It's a very nice car with lots of improvements. I was surprised at how it's more slab-sided than ever, still looks great though. It's unfortunate they didn't continue the V12, but it's understandable.

They continued the V12 with over 500hp now, it was Mercedes who said that there won't be a V12 in the next generation of the S-Class and canceled the already ongoing development. They looked at BMW's V12 engine but the size doesn't fit.

No, it was BMW that discontinued the V12, not Mercedes. I don't have a cite but I recall this being announced last year. I just looked on the web site and there is no 760 listed.

You're wrong it was already in the media. The new 760 has 544hp, a new 8-speed automatic transmission and will be introduced in 2010.

You're right, I stand corrected. I found a link http://www.bmwblog.com/2009/04/09/bm...been-revealed/ that announces the 760. I should have looked earlier, but I may have been confused with the 760 being discontinued for 2008. Anyway, this is great news. I'm a huge fan of the V12.

I'm also a fan of V12s, and especially the V12 Mercedes models. The posts above prompted me to search for more information about either company discontinuing their V12 engines. I was disappointed to find several blog posts pointing to a story on autobild.de about Mercedes stopping development of their next V12 in favor of a twin-turbo V8. I hope it isn't true.

Maybe considering price the 7 is a better value, just like the Lexus is better than both the 7 and S.

I hope it isn't true either as I also prefer MB V12s. Although they aren't considered environmentally friendly, MB's older V12s where 6 cylinders shut down at cruising speed are rather fuel efficient. I'd like to see this or similar technology advanced.

I do not trust this article... "The V12 program is apparently being shifted towards twin-turbo V8s, and the magic of forced-induction means there's no reason to assume that fewer cylinders will equal fewer ponies." Makes it sounds as though the author does not know that all of Mercedes current V12s are twin turbo charged. I do not see why Mercedes wants smaller front ends...sort of odd.
